Product catalog summary
Overview: The document details the VA 500 and VA 520 flow sensors, designed for measuring the flow of compressed air and gases, including temperature measurement. These sensors are adaptable to various pipe diameters and offer digital measurement capabilities for enhanced accuracy.
Specifications:
  • VA 500: Suitable for pipe diameters from 1/2" to DN 1000, with varying measuring ranges. It features a digital evaluation system, RS 485 interface, Modbus-RTU, and optional M-Bus output. It measures flow rates in m³/h and total flow in m³, with an accuracy of ±1.5% of the measured value.
  • VA 520: Designed for smaller pipe diameters (1/4" to 3 inch) and offers similar digital capabilities. It includes a Modbus output and is suitable for compressed air and gases like nitrogen, oxygen, and CO2. The VA 520 can be easily installed and removed for cleaning without dismounting the measuring section.
Installation and Mounting:
  • The VA 500 can be mounted using a standard 1/2" ball valve, with probe lengths from 120 mm to 600 mm. It allows for installation under pressure and includes a safety ring to prevent uncontrolled ejection.
  • The VA 520 features an integrated measuring section for easy installation and removal, eliminating the need for a bypass line during cleaning.
Features and Benefits:
  • Both sensors use a calorimetric measurement principle, eliminating the need for additional pressure and temperature compensation.
  • They offer high accuracy and fast measurements, with adjustable units and reset counters via the display.
  • The VA 520 is noted for its affordability and ease of installation, suitable for monitoring compressed air systems from compressors to small tools.
Applications:
  • These sensors are used for compressed air balancing, consumption measurement, leakage detection, and flow measurement of process gases.
  • The VA 520 is ideal for mobile use and can be integrated into machine feed hoses for real-time flow and leak rate determination.
Technical Data:
  • Operating temperature ranges from -30°C to 110°C for the probe tube and up to 80°C for the housing.
  • Operating pressure for the VA 500 is up to 50 bar, while the VA 520 can handle up to 16 bar, with an optional high-pressure version available.
  • Power supply requirements are 18-36 VDC, with a burden of less than 500 Ω.
Additional Specifications for VA 520:
  • Measurement Units: Can measure in m³/h, l/min, and other units, with adjustable settings via display keys.
  • Output Options: Includes 4...20 mA analogue output for actual flow and pulse output for total flow, with galvanic isolation or optional M-Bus.
  • Installation: Easy installation into existing pipelines with integrated measuring section and weld neck flange according to EN 1092-1 PN 40.
  • Accuracy: High measuring accuracy with defined inlet and outlet sections, suitable for leakage measurement.
  • Operating Conditions: Temperature range from -30 to 80°C and pressure up to 16 bar, optionally up to PN 40.
Features:
  • Modbus Interface: Enables connection to control systems like energy management and SCADA.
  • Calorimetric Measurement Principle: No additional pressure and temperature measurement required, with no mechanically moving parts.
  • Comprehensive Diagnostics: Display or remote access via Modbus-RTU for diagnostics like exceeding max/min values, calibration cycle, and error codes.
  • Removable Device: The measuring device can be removed without dismounting the entire section, no bypass required.
Application Range:
  • Suitable for compressed air balancing, consumption measurement, leakage determination, and flow measurement of gases like nitrogen, CO2, oxygen, argon, and nitrous oxide.
Technical Data:
  • Measurement Principle: Calorimetric with a thermal mass flow sensor.
  • Digital Output: RS 485 interface, Modbus-RTU, and optional M-Bus.
  • Power Supply: 18...36 VDC, 5 W.
  • Housing: Made of polycarbonate (IP 65) with stainless steel measuring section.
Ordering Information: Various models available with different DN sizes and options for high-pressure versions, accuracy, and special measuring ranges. Accessories include connection cables, closing caps, service software, and power supplies.

What are the advantages of our flow measuring technology? 1) Even under pressure, the flow sensor VA 500 is mounted by means of a standard 1/2“ ball valve. During mounting and dismounting the safety ring avoids an uncontrolled ejection of the probe which may be caused by the operating pressure. For the mounting into different pipe diameters VA 500 is available in the following probe lengths: 120, 160, 220, 300, 400 mm. So the flow sensors are being mounted into existing pipelines with inner diameters of 1/2“ upwards. The exact positioning of the sensor in the middle of the pipe is granted by...

In most cases the compressed air is not free from oil, condensate, dirt and particles. In the course of time this leads to a soiling of the flow meters which may cause errors in measurement or even a total breakdown. The flow sensors which have been on the market up to now generally cannot be cleaned and will be exchanged if they are soiled. In case of compressed air meters with integrated measuring section the ..measuring device" cannot be removed. For this reason an expensive bypass line is necessary. The design of VA 520 enables the removal and cleaning of the .measuring device" with e.g....
