Product catalog summary
Introduction
CROSS Manufacturing Inc., founded in 1949 in Lewis, Kansas, specializes in designing and producing hydraulic systems and components. The company is known for high-quality products, competitive pricing, and quick delivery, with all manufacturing facilities located within an eighty-mile radius in Kansas.
Product Warranty Policy
The company offers a warranty to the original purchaser, guaranteeing products are free from defects in material and workmanship for 12 months from first use or 18 months from shipment, whichever is sooner. The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective items but excludes damages from misuse or improper use.
Product Line Overview
The catalog features a wide range of hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, directional control valves, selector valves, pressure control valves, tie rod cylinders, welded cylinders, and filters, all designed to meet specific system requirements and manufactured in the USA.
Key Product Features
  • Pumps and Motors: Available in various series with specific flow rates and pressure ratings.
  • Directional Control Valves: Offer different configurations and capabilities, such as load holding and low leakage.
  • Flow Control Valves: Manually adjustable, pressure compensated, with priority-type flow division.
  • Loader Valves: Compact design with low leakage and load-holding capabilities, ideal for mobile loader markets.
Technical Information
The catalog includes sections on basic hydraulic theory, terminology, sample hydraulic systems, troubleshooting tips, safety guidelines, and installation instructions for closed center and power beyond systems.
Conclusion
CROSS Manufacturing Inc. provides a comprehensive selection of hydraulic components designed for efficiency and reliability, supported by a strong warranty policy and ongoing product development.
Valve Specifications and Options
Standard valves cannot be modified with a float option or pressure kickout due to design constraints. Single acting cylinder applications require specially ordered valves.
Valve Identification and Installation
Valves made since 1989 have a stock number stamped on the handle end. Liquid pipe sealant is recommended over Teflon tape to prevent cracking, with torque specifications provided for different pipe sizes.
Hydraulic Product Safety
Oil should be filtered to 25 microns, with regular filter changes. Use premium anti-wear oil and ensure proper hook-up and mounting to prevent system damage. Misapplication of valves can lead to equipment failure.
Maintenance and Safety
Regular maintenance includes checking bolts, replacing damaged parts, and ensuring proper quick disconnects. A sticking valve can cause serious injury or equipment failure.
Pumps and Motors Safety
Discontinue use if pinhole leaks are observed. Ensure proper cylinder operation to avoid injury or equipment damage.
Closed Center Conversion
Conversion from open to closed center requires specific plugs and modifications. Incorrect installation can lead to system damage.
Troubleshooting Tips
Common issues include system inoperability, erratic operation, slow operation, overheating, and leaks. Solutions involve checking oil levels, replacing filters, and ensuring proper component alignment.
Product Line Overview
CROSS Manufacturing offers a diverse range of hydraulic components, including valves, pumps, motors, and cylinders, with various configurations and options. The company is ISO 9001 certified and serves multiple industries worldwide.

HOW DO I HOOK UP THE VALVE? Inlet and outlet are marked on the directional valves. For standard valves hook up diagrams are shown on the bottom of the box . A and B (C, D, E and F if applicable) ports go to the cylinder ports. For VS and SD series see the box or call CROSS. WHAT VALVE SHOULD I USE FOR LIFTING? I HAVE A JOHN DEERE. ( or any other closed center system). For safety, a valve with a load check (Series AD/SA, BA or SS) is necessary in order that the load does not drop before it begins to raise again when you are shifting out of the neutral position. The load check is a spring loaded...

MAINTENANCE: Make sure all bolts are tightened and torqued to the recommended specification. Bent or broken parts should not be used. Replace immediately. Always use exact replacements.Always protect valve spool from paint overspray. Faulty quick disconnects can cause high back pressures and sticking spools. Check quick disconnects peri- odically to make sure they are functioning properly. If valve spool does not center or appears to stick, do not use! DIRTY OIL: Oil must be filtered to a minimum of 25 microns. Filters should be changed regularly - spin-on types after 50 hours of initial use...
