Product catalog summary
Hydraulic System Safety and Maintenance Guidelines
Relief and Bypass Necessity: A relief or bypass is essential in hydraulic systems to prevent pump damage from overpressurization. Ensure the use of correct fittings and oil as specified in the technical service manual. Regular oil changes should follow the implement or tractor manufacturer's recommendations.
Cylinder Safety: Verify clevis clearances before, during, and after cylinder extension to prevent injury or damage. Avoid operating cylinders above recommended pressures and never use them as safety devices during equipment transport.
Pinhole Leaks: Discontinue use if a pinhole leak is detected. Seek immediate medical attention if oil contacts skin or eyes.
Oil Filtration: Oil must be filtered to at least 25 microns. Change spin-on filters after 50 hours of initial use and every 250 hours thereafter. Use a condition indicator and consult the owner's manual for specific filtration guidelines.
Oil Requirements: Use premium anti-wear oil with a viscosity of 100-200 SSU at operating temperatures. Some synthetic oils may cause seal swelling; consult CROSS Engineering if unsure.
Proper Hook Up and Mounting: Use correct size fittings and follow valve body markings for connections. Avoid overtorquing fittings and ensure mounting surfaces are flat. Use a power beyond sleeve when connecting valves in series.
Valve Application: Use appropriate valves for specific tasks. Avoid using CONVERTA, CD, CS, or CA valves for heavy load lifting. Ensure compatibility with open or closed center applications.
Maintenance: Regularly check and tighten bolts to recommended specifications. Replace bent or broken parts immediately. Protect valve spools from paint overspray and ensure quick disconnects function properly.
Valve Safety: Follow all instructions to prevent serious injury or equipment failure. A sticking valve may result from various factors and should be addressed immediately.
