Product catalog summary
Overview: Crompton Instruments provides a range of kilowatt-hour energy meters for applications such as switchgear, plant instrumentation, and process control. These meters are available in DIN-rail, panel mounting, and ANSI styles, offering advantages over traditional mechanical meters with electro-mechanical counters or LCD displays.
Single-phase DIN-rail Kilowatt Hour Energy Meters: The DRK-1PPO-240 model is a two DIN module meter with Class 2 accuracy, suitable for direct connection up to 15A, featuring a non-zeroing mechanical counter and pulsed output. The DRK-1PCT-240 model is a four DIN module meter with an internal current transformer and selectable CT ratios.
Three-phase DIN-rail Kilowatt Hour Energy Meters: The DRK-3PCT-415 model is designed for three-phase systems, offering Class 2 accuracy, selectable CT ratios, and supports both three- and four-wire systems with a 7-digit mechanical counter.
Concentrator Module: The DRK-485-230 module allows remote monitoring of energy consumption from up to 8 meters within a 25-meter radius using Modbus® protocol, supporting up to 32 modules on an RS485 line.
Direct Connection Meters: The DRK-1P-230-D63 and DRK-3P-400-D90 models offer direct connection capabilities for single-phase and three-phase systems, respectively, featuring Class 1 accuracy, LCD displays, and non-zeroing counters.
Panel Mounted Kilowatt Hour Energy Meters: The 240 ‘H’ Series DIN Panel meters use microprocessor-controlled circuitry for high accuracy and performance, capable of measuring distorted waveforms and providing instantaneous power readings.
Features and Benefits: These meters offer high accuracy, energy efficiency, and maintenance-free operation, compliant with IEC and UL standards for balanced and safe systems.
Specifications: The meters comply with IEC 1036/BS EN 61036 standards, housed in a compact 96mm DIN case, and feature a 7-digit electro-mechanical counter that auto-resets. They measure in Watts, Kilowatts, and Megawatts, with options for analogue and pulsed outputs.
Operational Principles: The meters use electro-mechanical counters that auto-reset, with options for LCD counters, providing analogue readouts through a moving coil meter and outputting instantaneous power readings as current or voltage signals.
Models and Options: Five models are described with varying display options, including single electro-mechanical counters, LCD counters, and models with short-scale or long-scale indicators, offering different output options such as relay or opto-isolator pulsed outputs.
Technical Specifications: The meters operate within a voltage range of 57.7V to 480V AC, with a frequency range of 45 to 65Hz, dielectric strength of 2kV rms for 1 minute, and operational temperature range from 0°C to +60°C. Accuracy for kWh or kVArh is +/- 1% of reading.
Applications: Ideal for secondary metering, energy management, load control, and process control, suitable for distorted waveform power measurement and load profile data logging.
Additional Features: The KWH-400 series is noted for Class 1.0 accuracy, wide operating voltage range, true RMS measurement, LED status indicators, and pulsed output for energy usage communication.

This Class 1 instrument uses microprocessor controlled circuitry for optimumperformance and accuracy. Incoming voltage and current signals are converted into numbers representing instantaneous values. These are then multiplied together to give the instantaneous power. This sampling is repeated many times during each waveform cycle allowing theaccurate measurements of distorted waveforms. Incoming power is indicated by the pulsing red LED indicator. Accumulated values are registered on the energy counter. > The 240 Hђ series of kWh meters is a major upgrade in a product range offered by Tyco Electronics...
