Product catalog summary
Construction Materials
GNS Capsule Filters are constructed using polypropylene for the housing, media support, end caps, center core, and outer support cage. The filtration media is nano-spun, hydrophilic polypropylene depth media, and the sealing method is thermal bonding.
Applications
These filters are suitable for a variety of applications including fermentation broths, CMP slurries, wine, beer, inks, dyes, bottled water, fruit juices, buffers, media, and specialty chemicals. They are designed to economically remove contaminants from high-value liquids with high contamination loads.
Filtration Performance
The nano-spun depth media provides 99% retention at the rated pore size and holds large amounts of contaminants. It is ideal for protecting downstream membrane filters and performing critical filtration applications.
Operating Parameters
Maximum liquid operational pressure is 80 psi at 20°C, and for gases, it is 60 psi at 20°C. The operating temperature is 60°C at 10 psi in water. Forward differential pressure is 40 psid at 20°C, and reverse differential pressure is 20 psid at 20°C. The recommended changeout pressure is 25 psid.
Flow Rate and Filtration Area
The document provides a table for typical water flow rates at a one psi pressure differential across various capsule lengths and pore sizes, with flow rates given in GPM and LPM.
Quality Assurance and Standards
Critical Process Filtration adheres to ISO 9001:2008 standards, ensuring high-quality manufacturing and testing processes. All operations are conducted in clean rooms, and real-time data collection allows for continuous quality monitoring and traceability.
Compliance and Testing
GNS capsule filters meet FDA requirements for food and beverage processing and comply with relevant European Commission regulations. They exhibit low levels of non-volatile residues and are factory tested for integrity.
Ordering Information
The document provides detailed ordering information, including options for capsule length, micron rating, inlet and outlet types, and non-sterile options. An example order number is provided for reference.

GNS Capsule Filters Nano-Spun, Hydrophilic Polypropylene Depth Media Applications Fermentation Broths Wine, Beer Inks & Dyes Bottled Water, Fruit Juices Specialty Chemicals Nano-Spun Depth Media GNS filter capsules are made using media produced in a tightly controlled process. The spun media is created by laying down graded density fibers on a spinning core. The result is a highly consistent product that provides 99% retention at the rated pore size and holds large amounts of contaminant. GNS media is ideal for protection of downstream membrane filters and performance of critical filtration applications. Nano-spun polypropylene for efficient retention and high dirt holding capacity These capsules can be used wherever it is critical to economically remove contaminants in high value liquids with high contamination loads. Applications include clarification of wine, beer, and fruit juices; prefiltration of fermentation broths and fluids used in making pharmaceuticals; prefiltration of bottled water; and filtration of specialty chemicals. They are also used as critical filters in applications such as CMP slurry polishing in semiconductor making as well as final filtration of inks and dyes. Integrity Test Information Representative sample capsule elements are factory tested for integrity before shipment. Field duplication of these tests is not practical because of the complexity of the testing process and absence of commercial portable testing equipment. All Critical Process Filtration capsule filters are designed to meet the FDA requirements for processing food and beverage products. The materials used to construct GNS capsule filters are listed by the FDA as appropriate for use in articles intended for repeated food contact as specified in Title 21 CFR sections 174.5, 177.1500,...
