Product catalog summary
Construction Materials
EPD Capsule Filters are constructed using polypropylene for all components, including housing, filtration media, media support, end caps, center core, and outer support cage. The sealing method used is thermal bonding.
Applications
These filters are suitable for a variety of applications such as UP DI water, plating solutions, acids and bases, etch baths, solvents and alcohols, process water, and photo resists. They are designed to remove 99.9% of contaminants at the rated pore size, protecting downstream membrane filters.
Maximum Operating Parameters
The filters can operate at a liquid pressure of 80 psi (5.5 bar) and gas pressure of 60 psi (4.1 bar) at 20°C (68°F). The maximum operating temperature is 43°C (110°F) at 30 psi (2.1 bar) in water. Forward and reverse differential pressures are 50 psid (3.4 bard) and 40 psid (2.7 bard) respectively, with a recommended changeout pressure of 35 psid (2.4 bard).
Flow Rate / Filtration Area
The filtration area varies with capsule length, ranging from 1.0 ft² for a 2” capsule to 17.4 ft² for a 30” capsule. The flow rates are provided for different pore sizes, with a range from 0.20 GPM (0.76 LPM) for 0.10 μm to over 4.0 GPM (15.14 LPM) for larger pore sizes.
Sanitization/Sterilization
EPD capsules can be autoclaved at 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes in multiple cycles. Chemical sanitization can be performed using industry-standard concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, paracetic acid, sodium hypochlorite, and other selected chemicals. Note that EPD capsules are not suitable for steam use.
Quality Assurance and Standards
Manufacturing and quality systems meet ISO 9001:2008 standards, with operations conducted in clean rooms. Real-time data collection ensures continuous quality monitoring and full traceability.
Ordering Information
Capsules can be ordered with specific micron ratings, lengths, inlet, and outlet types. An example order number is provided for reference.

Electronics Pleated Polypro Depth Capsules-1

EPD Capsule Filters Pleated Polypropylene Depth Media Plating Solutions Acids & Bases Etch Baths Solvents & Alcohols Process Water Photo Resists EPD capsules are made with polypropylene microfiber media and other polypropylene components. All materials were chosen for their high purity and broad chemical compatibility. Designed with optimal filtration area, the filters can remove large amounts of particulate and other contaminants over a long filter life. EPD capsules protect the critical membrane filters downstream by removing 99.9% of contaminants at the rated pore size. EPD capsule filter applications include prefiltration of process water before treatment (for UPDI), low to moderate temperature prefiltration of acids and bases, prefiltration of solvents, alcohols, plating solutions, photo resists and other fluids in bulk distribution systems. Integrity Test Information Representative sample capsule elements are factory tested for integrity before shipment. Field duplication of these tests is not practical because of the absence of commercial portable testing equipment. The levels of extractables in aqueous extracts from electronics grade capsule filters are below 3ppb of TOC after product rinse during manufacturing. Electronics grade filters typically exhibit very low levels of non-volatile residues during startup.
