Product catalog summary
Construction Materials
BNM Capsule Filters are constructed using polypropylene for the housing, media support, end caps, center core, and outer support cage. The filtration media is made of Nylon 6,6 membrane, and the sealing method used is thermal bonding.
Applications
These filters are suitable for sterilizing grade filtration and are used in various applications including buffers, feedstocks, WFI water, solvents, and vaccines. They are particularly effective in bioburden management and solvent filtration due to their broad compatibility and low extractables.
Maximum Operating Parameters
The filters operate at a liquid pressure of 80 psi and gas pressure of 60 psi at 20°C. The operating temperature is 43°C at 30 psi. The forward and reverse differential pressures are 50 psid and 40 psid respectively, with a recommended changeout pressure of 35 psid. Pore sizes range from 0.10 μm to 0.65 μm.
Flow Rate / Filtration Area
The flow rate varies with pore size and capsule length, with specific flow rates provided for different configurations. The filtration area increases with capsule length, ranging from 1.0 ft² for a 2” capsule to 21.0 ft² for a 30” capsule.
Integrity Test Specifications
Integrity tests are conducted at various pressures depending on pore size, with maximum diffusion rates specified for different capsule lengths.
Sanitization/Sterilization
Capsules can be autoclaved at 250°F for 30 minutes. Chemical sanitization is limited to 1% hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid. Capsules are available in pre-sterilized and non-sterilized forms.
Compliance and Validation
The materials comply with USP Class VI and FDA requirements for repeated food contact. Validation is based on ASTM and HIMA protocols, with specific organisms used for challenge tests.
Quality Assurance and Standards
Manufacturing meets ISO 9001:2008 standards, with real-time monitoring and traceability. Each capsule is integrity tested before release.
Ordering Information
Capsules can be ordered with specific configurations for pre-sterilization, micron rating, length, and inlet/outlet types. Detailed ordering codes are provided for customization.

BNM Capsule Filters Nylon 6,6 Membrane Applications uffers and Feedstocks B BNM capsules see broad service in bioburden management for filling operations as well as for buffers, feedstocks, purified water, WFI, and other media. Additional applications for BNM capsule filters include filtration of solvents, alcohols and other excipients. Nylon is particularly suited for the filtration of solvents because of it’s broad compatibility and low level of extractables.
