Product catalog summary
Construction Materials
BCWPS Capsule Filters are constructed using polypropylene for the housing, media support, end caps, center core, and outer support cage. The filtration media is a high capacity polyethersulfone (PES) membrane, and the sealing method is thermal bonding.
Applications
These filters are suitable for use with buffers, feedstocks, solvents, vaccines, and water for injection (WFI), among others. They are particularly effective in bioburden reduction applications in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Maximum Operating Parameters
The filters can operate at a liquid pressure of 80 psi and gas pressure of 60 psi at 20°C. The operating temperature is 43°C at 30 psi in water. Forward and reverse differential pressures are 50 psid and 40 psid, respectively, with a recommended changeout pressure of 35 psid.
Flow Rate and Filtration Area
The filters offer excellent flow rates and retention characteristics, with pore sizes ranging from 0.22 μm to 1.2 μm. Flow rates vary with pore size, with a maximum of 1.05 GPM for the largest pore size.
Sanitization/Sterilization
BCWPS capsules can be autoclaved at 250°F for 30 minutes and sanitized using industry-standard chemical concentrations. They are available in both pre-sterilized and non-sterilized forms.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
The materials used comply with USP Class VI and FDA requirements for non-toxic, non-fiber releasing filters. The manufacturing process adheres to ISO 9001:2008 standards, ensuring high quality and traceability.
Ordering Information
Capsules can be ordered based on micron rating, sterilization status, length, and inlet/outlet specifications. Example order: CPBCWPS-20S0001FF for a 0.22 Micron, Pre-Sterilized, 10” Length filter.

BCWPS Capsule Filters High Capacity PES Membrane Applications Buffers and Feedstocks BCWPS capsule filters are used for bioburden reduction applications in the biopharmaceutical industry. Applications for BCWPS capsule filters include bacteria removal in buffers, USP Water for Injection (WFI), SVPs, LVPs and other products. Filter elements from each manufacturing lot are integrity tested during production. BCWPS capsules also see service in removing organic and other contaminants from wash water and clean in place solutions used in piping and other systems. Excellent flow rates with excellent retention characteristics Remove organic contaminants from liquid streams P rotect processes by removing organic contaminants from wash water, CIP solutions High capacity polyethersulfone is particularly suited for the filtration of products that contain elements that can adsorb to media, such as preservatives and proteins. The lower binding characteristics of PES make it a good choice for filtration of valuable protein solutions such as vaccines and other biotech products. Low product adsorption for protein solutions BCWPS Capsule Filters - Filtration Area Capsule Length High Capacity PES Membrane Flow Rate / Filtration Area The following table represents typical water flow at a one psi (69 mbar) pressure differential across a single 2 inch capsule with 0.9 ft² (836 cm²) of media with 1/2” FNPT ports. The test fluid is water at ambient temperature. Higher pressure drops are acceptable, but as flows increase the pressure drop of the housing becomes more apparent. 0.22 μm Pore Size * For approximate flow rates for 5” through 30” capsules, refer to the appropriate cartridge data sheet Construction Materials Maximum Operating Parameters Liquid Operational Pressure Filtration Media High Capacity Polyethersulfone (PES) Membrane Gases Operational Pressure Operating Temperature Media Support Forward Differential Pressure 50 psid (3.4 bard) at 20 °C (68 °F) Center Core Reverse Differential Pressure Outer Support Cage Sealing Method Thermal Bonding Recommended Changeout Pressure Biological Grade BCWPS capsule filters are hydrophilic and manufactured with high capacity polyethersulfone membrane. The proprietary membrane casting process creates a thick membrane with high contaminant holding capacity, excellent retention characteristics and high flow rates.

Quality Assurance and Standards Integrity Test Information Representative samples from each manufacturing lot are tested for integrity to ensure consistent performance. The materials used to construct biopharmaceutical grade CWPS capsule filters are non-toxic and meet the requirements for the MEM Elution Cytotoxicity Test and the requirements for Biological Reactivity Tests in the current version of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for Class VI - 121 °C Plastics. In addition, the materials meet the requirements listed by the FDA as appropriate for use in articles intended for repeated food...
