Biopharm Blended Cellulose Cartridge Filters

Biopharm Blended Cellulose Cartridge Filters

Product catalog summary
Overview: BBC Cartridge Filters are designed for biopharmaceutical applications, utilizing a hydrophilic blended cellulose membrane. These filters offer high loading capacity and flow rates, with low protein binding, making them ideal for protein-rich solutions.
Applications: Used in prefiltration and clarification processes, BBC filters are suitable for removing bacteria and particulates from cell culture media, plasma products, serum, and other biological products. They are integrity tested to ensure performance.
Construction Materials: The filters are constructed with a blended cellulose membrane, supported by polypropylene components, and sealed using thermal bonding. Various O-ring materials are available, including Buna, Viton, and Silicone.
Dimensions and Specifications: Filters range from 5 to 40 inches in length, with a nominal outside diameter of 2.75 inches. The filtration area is 7.0 ft² per 10-inch length. Maximum operating parameters include a forward differential pressure of 50 psid at 20°C and an operating temperature of 82°C at 10 psid.
Sanitization and Sterilization: Filters can be sanitized using filtered hot water, autoclaving, or in-line steam, with specific conditions requiring a stainless steel support ring. Chemical sanitization is also possible with standard industry chemicals.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: The filters meet USP Biosafety and FDA compliance standards, ensuring non-toxicity and suitability for repeated food contact. They are manufactured in ISO 9001:2008 certified facilities, ensuring high quality and reliability.
Ordering Information: Filters can be customized based on pore size, end cap type, and other specifications. An example order code is provided for reference.
Performance: BBC filters exhibit low levels of extractables and non-volatile residues. Typical flow rates are provided for various pore sizes, indicating efficient performance under specified conditions.

Biopharm Blended Cellulose Cartridge Filters-1

BBC Cartridge Filters Blended Cellulose Membrane Applications Pre-filtration to increase the life of expensive final filters Final filtration — reduce bacteria counts and particle levels Typical Fluid Streams: Reagents/Standards Animal Serums Human Serums/Albumin Culture Media Fermentation Products Dimensions Length BBC filters are used for prefiltration and clarification applications in biopharmaceutical processing. Applications include bacteria and particulate removal in cell culture media, plasma products, serum, SVPs, LVPs and other biological products. The filter elements are 100% integrity tested during production. Blended cellulose membranes are particularly suited for the filtration of products that contain elements that can adsorb to the media, such as preservatives and proteins. The lower binding characteristics of the membranes make them a good choice for filtration of valuable protein solutions such as MAb solutions, serum and other biologicals. Construction Materials Filtration Media Blended Cellulose Membrane Media Support Center Core Outer Support Cage Sealing Method Thermal Bonding Buna, Viton® (or FKM), EP, Silicone, FEP Encapsulated Silicone, FEP Encapsulated Viton (or FKM) Filtration Area BBC cartridge filters are hydrophilic and manufactured with blended cellulose membrane. The process creates a thick membrane with very high loading capacity and high flow rates. The blended cellulose material is very low protein binding and allows protein rich solutions to pass with little impact on protein content. Outside Diameter Maximum Operating Parameters Differential Pressure • Forward Operating Temperature Recommended Changeout Pressure 82 °C (180 °F) at 10 psid (0.69 bard) in water 35 psid (2.4 bard) Sanitization/Sterilization Filtered Hot Water 90 °C (194 °F), 30 minutes, multiple cycles, max 3 psid forward flow In-line Steam For all elevated temperature procedures above, a stainless steel support ring is required.
