WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT EN ISO 14122-4:2016 STANDARD (Annex A) Safety of machinery Permanent means of access to machinery Fixed ladders Main technical and dimensional requirements - The anti-climb device shall not modify the features of the ladder - When opened, it shall not impair the movements of the operator who shall go inside and outside in full safety - The anti-climb device shall have a minimum height of 1 800 mm - It shall be fitted with a horizontal hatchcover at the top to restrain the access into the cage - It shall return to an activated position by self-closing and self-locking after passage - It shall be operated either with one hand (when climbing) or one foot (when descending the ladder) - The anti-climb device shall comply with following mechanical strength : • Horizontally load (1 500 N at each angle of the door) • Vertically load (4 500 N at the two lower angles of the door) • 50 kg bag dropped on the middle of the hatchcover from a 2 m height
