Product catalog summary
Features and Benefits
Corning's innovative packaging solution, "Reel in a Box," offers several advantages for fiber optic cable management. The "Countdown" print feature helps in inventory management by indicating the remaining cable length. Stackable boxes facilitate easier storage, and smaller reel offerings provide shorter cable lengths, reducing waste. Cable cutting services at Corning help lower operating expenses for distributors and end users.

Standards
The cables comply with the National Electrical Code® (NEC®) OFNR, CSA FT-4, and ICEA S-83-596 standards. They also meet UL-1666 flame resistance requirements for riser and general building applications.

Product Description
Corning MIC® riser cables are designed for riser and general-purpose environments, suitable for intrabuilding backbone and horizontal installations. These cables feature 900 μm TBII® buffered fibers for easy stripping and termination, surrounded by dielectric strength members and a flame-retardant outer jacket.

Specifications
  • Temperature Range: Storage: -40 °C to 70 °C, Installation: -10 °C to 60 °C, Operation: -20 °C to 70 °C.
  • Max. Tensile Strength: Short-Term: 660 N, Long-Term: 200 N.

Mechanical Characteristics
For both multimode and single-mode cables, the specifications include fiber count, central element, nominal outer diameter, minimum bend radius for installation and operation, and weight. The cables are available in various configurations to suit different distribution needs.

Transmission Performance
Multimode cables offer different fiber core diameters and categories (OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4), with varying maximum attenuation and bandwidth capabilities. Single-mode cables, such as SMF-28e® fiber and ClearCurve® XB, provide specific performance options and attenuation levels.

Ordering Information
The cables are available in 12 different jacket colors for easy identification, with black as the standard color. Customers can contact Corning Customer Care for additional options and information.
