Overview of Priming Systems
Cornell Pump Company offers two main priming systems: the Redi-Prime® and the Venturi Prime. Both systems are designed to ensure efficient and reliable pump operation across various industries.

Venturi Prime System
The Venturi Prime system utilizes a compressor driven by the pump shaft, lubricated by engine oil, to evacuate air from the suction line and pump casing. It is an economical option compatible with any Cornell Pump where Redi-Prime® is available. Although slower to prime than Redi-Prime, it performs better in freezing temperatures and can be customized for specific applications. Key benefits include fully automatic priming, reasonable priming speed, and the ability to operate unattended. It does not affect the pump's solids handling capacity and maintains suction lift capacity and flow rates.

Redi-Prime® System
The Redi-Prime® system is engineered for demanding industries such as construction, industrial, rental, and municipal sectors. It features a positive-sealing float box and a diaphragm vacuum pump for fully automatic priming and re-priming. The system prevents water carry-over, ensuring environmental safety. It is compatible with most Cornell pump models and offers rapid priming and re-priming capabilities. The system includes patented Cycloseal® and Run-Dry™ options, maintaining the pump's solids handling capacity and flow rates.

Comparison of Priming Systems
The Redi-Prime® system offers faster priming speeds (up to 50 CFM) and excellent operating temperature performance compared to the Venturi Prime, which primes at less than 20 CFM and has fair temperature performance. Both systems are designed to prevent product leakage and maintain operational efficiency.

Immersible Motor Design
Cornell's immersible motors are designed for dry-pit applications with potential flooding. These motors are totally enclosed and cooled by a blower, with a triple redundant sealing system to prevent water infiltration. They can withstand submergence up to 30 feet for two weeks, exceeding industry standards.
