Rolling Diaphragm Air Cylinders

Product catalog summary
Overview of Rolling Diaphragm Air Cylinders
The Rolling Diaphragm Air Cylinder is designed to convert pneumatic pressure into linear force without friction. Key features include high sensitivity, no need for lubrication, low hysteresis, no leakage, and adaptability to a wide range of temperatures. These cylinders are suitable for applications like web tensioners, valve actuators, and impact absorbers.
Diaphragm Design
The diaphragm is a flexible, durable membrane that creates a frictionless seal between the piston head and cylinder wall. Made from fabric-reinforced elastomer, it operates in temperatures from -75°F to 400°F.
Ultra Cylinders
Ultra Cylinders use rolling diaphragm seals with linear ball bearings and hardened steel rods to minimize friction and provide precise pressure response.
Modifications and Custom Devices
Standard cylinders can be customized by altering diaphragm, bearing, or rod materials. Custom diaphragm devices can be designed for high reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Operating Information
Cylinders function with plant air up to 145 psi and temperatures from -40°F to 225°F. Custom materials can extend these ranges, and modifications are available for hydraulic applications.
Materials
The cylinder shell is made from anodized aluminum or steel, with a chrome-plated steel rod. The diaphragm consists of neoprene rubber with Dacron fabric, and bearings are made from impregnated sintered bronze.
Operating Parameters
Available in single and double-acting types with various effective areas, strokes, and spring rates. Ultra cylinders include linear ball bearings for improved performance.
Ordering Information
Cylinders can be ordered by type, size, stroke, rod threads, mount type, and options like no spring or bearing.
Repair Kits
Repair kits for spring return and double-acting cylinders include diaphragms, bearings, and rod wiper rings.
