VSD*M-VPD*M

Product catalog summary
Description: The VSD*M and VPD*M are pilot-operated directional control valves designed for high flow rate applications. They are available with electric solenoid or hydraulic actuation and come in five standard NFPA and ISO patterns.
Operation: These valves are available in 2 or 3 positions with various spool flow patterns. The VSD*M valves allow for field changes between internal or external pilot/drains and offer options like pilot pressure reducing, pilot chokes, and main stage stroke adjustments.
Specifications: The valves have different maximum operating pressures and flow rates depending on the model. For example, the VSD05*M has a maximum operating pressure of 4600 psi and a flow rate of 40 gpm. They are compatible with NFPA and ISO mounting surfaces and have specific weight and size dimensions.
Seal Options: Available seals include Buna (standard) and Viton.
Mechanical Options: Options include reverse mode, stroke adjustments, adjustable pilot chokes, and restrictor subplates for customization based on specific application needs.
Electrical and Hydraulic Options: The valves can be equipped with plug-in terminals or connection boxes with terminal posts and lights. Hydraulic actuation options specify actuator ports and configurations.
Performance Curves: Performance is detailed through flow gain and response time curves for different models, indicating energizing and de-energizing times under specific conditions.
Pilot and Drain Configuration: VPD*M valves are available with external pilot and drain only, while VSD*M valves offer four configurations. External pilot is recommended for systems with pressure fluctuations or exceeding 3000 psi.
Additional Features: Options like adjustable pilot chokes, restrictor subplates, and stroke adjustments are available to control flow and reduce hydraulic shock. Back pressure valves and pressure reducing modules are also offered for specific configurations.
Mounting and Dimensions: Detailed dimensions and mounting instructions are provided for each valve model, ensuring proper installation and operation.
Specifications: The document details the specifications for pilot operated directional valves, including the C version with conduit box and 5A receptacle option on the A port end. It specifies the thread of mounting holes, fastening requirements, tightening torque, and sealing rings for different valve sizes (VSD08M, VSD10M, VPD05*M, VPD07M, VPD08M, VPD10M).
Mounting and Dimensions: Overall and mounting dimensions are provided in both metric and imperial units. The document emphasizes the importance of using the correct bolt size and thread type for mounting surfaces, which adhere to NFPA and ISO standards.
Electrical Characteristics: Valves are available with various electrical connection options, including DIN 43650 solenoids and Deutsch DT04 connectors. The document provides codes for different pin configurations and receptacle types, along with wiring diagrams for standard connections.
Fluid and Installation Guidelines: The document outlines the recommended fluids, viscosities, and temperature ranges for optimal valve performance. It advises on installation positions based on valve configurations and highlights the importance of surface planarity and roughness to prevent fluid leakage.
Subplates and Seal Kits: Information on subplates and seal kits is provided, including maximum pressure ratings for aluminum and ductile subplates. The document lists part numbers for various sizes and types of seal kits.
Company Information: Continental Hydraulics is described as a provider of rugged, durable, and high-performance hydraulic products, serving various industries since 1962.

MECHANICAL OPTIONS VSD*M-VPD*M - PILOT OPERATED DIRECTIONAL VALVES STROKE ADJUSTMENT (JJ) This modification controls the flow of oil through the valve by limiting spool movement. It is used in hydraulic systems to govern the speed of system components. This solution allows control of the flow rate from the pump to the actuator and from the actuator to the outlet, obtaining a double adjustable control on the actuator. It is possible to order the valve with the stroke adj. on one side only. To request these options add the letters JA or JB in the Mechanical options box in the identification code....

PILOT AND DRAIN CONFIGURATION The VPD*M valves are available with external pilot and drain only. The VSD*M valves are available with four pilot/drain configurations: internal/internal, internal/external, external/internal and external/external. It may be desirable to use external pilot when system pressure is subject to wide flucuations. It is required to use external pilot or internal pilot with a pressure reducing valve when system pressure exceeds 3000 psi (210 bar) for the VSD05*M, VSD07M and VSD10M. An external drain must be used when an open center (B) or a tandem center (L) spool is used,...
