Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides technical specifications and guidelines for the VSD*HL series solenoid operated directional control valves by Continental Hydraulics. These valves are designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and comply with ATEX 94/9/EC standards, suitable for ATEX II 2GD gas and dust environments.
Specifications: The valves support maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) for P - A - B ports, with varying pressures for T ports. Flow rates range from 20 gpm (76 l/min) to 290 gpm (1100 l/min). The VSD03HL model features a Zinc-Nickel surface treatment for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Performance: Performance metrics include response times and pressure drops, influenced by piloting pressure and oil viscosity. The valves are tested under specific conditions to ensure reliability.
Ordering Code: A detailed ordering code system is provided for valve configurations, including solenoid operation, function, spool type, seal material, and mechanical options like stroke adjustment and adjustable pilot chokes.
Mechanical Options: Options such as stroke adjustment and restrictor subplates are available to control flow and switching times, tailored to specific hydraulic system requirements.
ATEX Approval: The valves are approved for use with gases, vapors, mists, and dust, ensuring safety and compliance in hazardous environments.
Mounting and Dimensions: Detailed dimensions and mounting instructions are provided for each valve size, including fastening, sealing rings, and torque specifications.
Pilot and Drain Configuration: Four configurations are available: internal/internal, internal/external, external/internal, and external/external. External pilot is recommended for systems with pressure fluctuations or exceeding 3000 psi.
Back Pressure Valve (C70) and Pressure Reducing Module (Z): The C70 maintains pilot operation pressure above 70 psi for VSD07HL and VSD08HL models. The Z module protects valves from pilot pressures over 3000 psi, fixed at 430 psi.
Electrical Specifications: Details on solenoid types, voltage, resistance, and power consumption are provided, emphasizing proper fusing and grounding for safety.
Wiring and Installation: Instructions for wiring, grounding, and cable specifications are included, with cable glands meeting ATEX certification.
Fluid Recommendations: Use mineral oil-based hydraulic fluids HL or HM type with NBR seals. For HFDR type fluids, use FPM seals. Avoid fluid temperatures above 180°F to prevent degradation.
Installation Guidelines: Valves with centering and offset springs can be mounted in any position, while those without springs should be mounted horizontally. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and smooth.
Fluid Viscosity and Temperature Range: Recommended fluid viscosity is 120 SUS (25 cSt), with ambient temperature range from -4 to +176°F (-20 to +80°C).
Seal and Bolt Kits: Various sizes of valves and corresponding seal kits are listed, including Buna and Viton seal kits.
Subplates: Maximum pressure for aluminum subplates is 3000 psi (210 bar) and for ductile subplates is 5000 psi (350 bar).
About Continental Hydraulics: Known for rugged, durable, and high-performance products, Continental Hydraulics has been serving various industries since 1962, focusing on quality customer support and innovative engineering.
