Overview: The document details the specifications and features of Continental Disc Corporation's Composite Type Rupture Discs, designed to protect pressurized systems from overpressure. It covers various types, materials, configurations, and customization options.
Preformed Composite Rupture Disc: These discs consist of a metallic top section and a seal member, offering excellent performance in low-pressure applications and operation up to 80% of the rated burst pressure. They are suitable for gaseous or liquid service and feature a unique seven-hole pattern for non-fragmenting and corrosion resistance.
ENVIRO-SEAL Rupture Disc: Available in three types, these discs cater to specific burst pressure ranges and can be customized with different holders and accessories. They are suitable for various applications and include options for ASME testing.
Specifications and Options: The document lists specifications such as rated burst pressure, manufacturing range, burst tolerance, and seating configurations. Options include ASME code testing, protective rings, vacuum/backpressure support, gaskets, and a B.D.I. Alarm System for immediate notification of pressure relief.
Operating Conditions: Designed for systems operating at up to 80% of the rated burst pressure, these discs handle both static and dynamic pressures and are suitable for a wide range of temperatures and corrosive environments.
Sizes and Materials: Available in sizes from 1" to 30" with burst pressures from 1.5 psig to 1440 psig, they can be manufactured from various materials to meet specific application needs, including high-temperature and corrosive conditions.
Additional Features: Highlights include protective rings for handling, vacuum and backpressure support, and the Three-Dimensional Flow Direction Tag for easy installation verification.
Alarm System: The B.D.I. Alarm System provides automatic notification of a burst disc event, using an electrical strip that signals a monitoring device when the disc bursts.
Specifications: Continental Disc offers a range of rupture discs and alarm monitors. The manufacturing range is based on customer-specified burst pressures, with options for reduced ranges. Burst tolerance is defined by ASME Code, with specific tolerances for different pressure levels.
Manufacturing Range and Burst Tolerance: Specifies the allowable pressure range for rupture discs, with options for reduced ranges. Burst tolerance is applied to the rated burst pressure, with specific tolerances for pressures up to 40 psig and above.
Recommended Temperatures: Burst pressures decrease with increasing temperatures. Maximum temperatures for rupture disc materials are provided, including aluminum, nickel, and stainless steel.
ENVIRO-SEAL Rupture Discs: Designed for low-pressure applications and provide corrosion resistance. Available in three types, each designed for specific burst directions and conditions.
Holder Assemblies: Various holder assemblies are offered, including screw type, union type, insert type, and full bolted style holders, designed for different pressure levels and piping configurations.
Code Compliance: Rupture discs comply with ASME, ISO, DIN, and other codes. CE marked discs are available, and flow performance is certified by The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
Composite Type Rupture Disc Overview: These discs provide instantaneous, full-opening pressure relief and are available in preformed and flat styles.
Preformed Composite Rupture Disc Features: Excellent performance in low-pressure applications, operates up to 80% of the rated burst pressure, suitable for gaseous or liquid service, constructed from corrosion-resistant materials, and includes a unique Three-Dimensional Flow Direction Tag.
Unique Seven-Hole Design: Ensures non-fragmenting characteristics when used with a non-metallic or TEFLON® seal, allowing for thicker, more durable materials while maintaining a high operating-to-burst-pressure ratio.
Recommended Operating Conditions: Can be used in various applications, operating at up to 80% of the rated burst pressure. For more information on using these discs above the 80% ratio, consult the factory.
Sizes and Materials: Available in sizes from 1" to 30" with burst pressures from 1.5 psig to 1440 psig, withstand service temperatures up to 1000°F, and resist most corrosive and atmospheric conditions.
Table V - Maximum Pressure for ANSI Class Flanges: Provides recommended maximum pressure ratings for stainless steel and carbon steel ANSI class flanges, with specific ratings for temperatures from -20 to +100°F.
Table VI - 30° Insert Holder Weights and Dimensions: Lists weights and dimensions for various nominal sizes and classes of insert holders, providing details on outside diameter, height, and weight in both imperial and metric units.
Ordering Information: To select the correct rupture disc and holder, determine operating specifications such as maximum allowable working pressure, operating pressure, temperature, vacuum/backpressure, cycle conditions, flow rate, media, and molecular weight. Quality assurance and documentation requirements include compliance with codes like ASME, ISO, and others, as well as special cleaning, packaging, tagging, and testing needs.
Contact Information: Lists contact details for Continental Disc Corporation's headquarters and international offices in the Netherlands, China, and India.
Additional Notes: Information is subject to change without notice, and reproduction without permission is prohibited. Pressure equipment directives and manufacturing licenses are available when specified.
