Product catalog summary
Overview
Conbraco Industries, Inc., under the Apollo Valves brand, is a prominent manufacturer of flow control products, headquartered in Matthews, North Carolina. Known for innovation and quality, they serve markets such as chemical processing, plumbing, and fire protection.
Lead-Free Compliance
Products with lead-free options are marked with a logo, ensuring wetted surfaces contain no more than 0.25% lead, complying with state and federal regulations.
Product Range
The catalog includes various valves like ball valves, butterfly valves, and pressure reducing valves, focusing on water pressure reducing valves essential for maintaining safe water pressure in systems.
Water Pressure Reducing Valves
These valves reduce high inlet supply pressure to a lower outlet pressure, preventing water wastage and protecting plumbing systems, crucial where supply pressure exceeds 80 PSI.
Economizing and Overpressure Solutions
Properly sized valves prevent water hammer and reduce energy costs, compatible with LEED certification for sustainable practices.
Operation and Features
Apollo valves use a compression spring to regulate pressure, designed for quick response to flow demand changes.
PR Series (36)
Designed for residential and light commercial applications, reducing pressures up to 300 PSI, featuring a bronze body and stainless steel strainer, compliant with ASSE 1003 and CSA B356 standards.
PRC Series (36C)
Compact, suitable for pressures up to 400 PSI, featuring a bronze body and stainless steel components, designed for easy maintenance.
Specifications
Valves are available in various sizes and connection types, made from durable materials like stainless steel, brass, and bronze, compliant with ASSE 1003 and CSA B356 standards.
Features
Include a balanced piston design, built-in thermal expansion by-pass, integral stainless steel strainer, and modular seat disc and strainer cartridge, available in lead-free options.
Performance
Flow charts and performance curves illustrate the relationship between flow rate and pressure differential, handling supply pressures up to 400 psi.
Installation and Sizing
Guidelines emphasize considering supply pressure, desired downstream pressure, and flow requirements, advising against oversizing.
Thermal Expansion Considerations
Valves incorporate a thermal by-pass feature to manage pressure build-up due to thermal expansion.
Model Number Matrix
Includes a matrix for determining the appropriate model number based on connection type, pressure setting, and other options.
Applications
PRC series for residential and light commercial use, PRE series for light duty applications, and PRH series for heavy-duty applications.
Flow Conditions and Pressure Reducing Valves
Discusses flow conditions for PRVs, highlighting pressure fall-off from set pressure during flow conditions, with examples provided.
Pressure Drop-Off Recommendations
Typical systems require a 25-30% pressure drop-off, while industrial applications prefer a 10-15% drop-off.
Gauges
Apollo provides gauges for selecting, using, and maintaining PRVs, including a hose bibb maximum pressure indicator gauge and an outlet pressure gauge.
Repair Kits
Repair parts and pre-packaged repair kits are available for all Apollo PRVs.
Warranty and Limitations of Liability
Conbraco offers a five-year warranty for products marked "Made in the USA" and a two-year warranty for international products, covering defects in workmanship or material.

AUTOMATIC PRESSURE REDUCTION Pressure reducing valves are designed to automatically reduce a high inlet supply pressure to a lower outlet pressure. In most plumbing code juris ictions, pressure reducing valves are mandated whenever the supply water pressure exceeds 80 PSI. d Excessive pressure can waste as much as 40,000 gallons of water in an average home every year. Ideally, water systems can meet required pressure and capacity needs with a water velocity of 10 feet per second or less. Cutting costs by specifying undersized piping often results in water hammer and other undesirable pipe noises....

WATER PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES How Pressure Reducing Valves Work OPERATION Apollo pressure reducing valves are shipped in the OPEN position. Their internal seat is held open by a compression spring. Compression is applied to the spring by an adjusting screw working on a spring button. The amount of force on the diaphragm by the valve spring determines the reduced pressure downstream of the regulating valve. The standard setting is 50 psig. During static (no-flow) conditions, the valve is closed because the diaphragm force is greater than the valve spring force. Outlet pressure drops once flow...
