MPR regulator

MPR regulator

MPR regulator

Product catalog summary
Main Features
The MPR is an automatic power factor regulator that uses a microprocessor to manage phase displacement between current and voltage waves. It maintains the desired power factor by switching capacitors on and off, even in the presence of harmonics, using an input filter.
Choosing the Current Transformer (C.T.)
Select a C.T. with a 5A secondary circuit and a primary slightly higher than the maximum load. Ensure it has good quality and power equal to or greater than 5VA. Consider additional power consumption from connection cables and other tools. The C.T. should be connected upstream of the load and P.F. Regulator.
Instructions for Use
Electrical Connection: Use plug connectors with terminal fixing screws for 2.5mm2 cables.
Mechanical Fixing: Mount the regulator in a 138x138mm cut-out.
Power of Controlled Banks: Operate according to binary logic sequence; power ratio per bank should be equal or double of the previous bank.
Number of Steps: Determined by the power combination used on single capacitors bank.
Working Situation
The regulator operates in either AUTOMATIC or MANUAL mode. In AUTOMATIC mode, it connects or disconnects capacitor banks based on network conditions. In MANUAL mode, external control is required.
Digital Display
Displays values of PF, VOLTAGE, CURRENT, and TEMPERATURE. The current value should be multiplied by the CT ratio for actual load current.
Settings on Regulator
Adjust C/K and PF settings after connections. C/K setting involves entering "SETTING MODE" and adjusting values. PF setting involves selecting the desired power factor.
Alarms
The MPR has several alarms including no supply voltage, low PF value, voltage, and current signal alarms. Each alarm condition has specific indicators and reset procedures.
Alarm Conditions and Reset Procedure
When the maximum temperature alarm condition is active, all manual and automatic operations are halted. To reset the alarm memory state, select the values corresponding to the flashing LED and press the 'Prog.' button.
Supply Interruptions
To prevent dangerous conditions when supply voltage is interrupted, the MPR switches off all capacitor banks until reconnection. Micro breaks in the network must be resolved by the client.
Working Troubles and Solutions
Common malfunctions are often due to incorrect connections. Solutions include ensuring the CT is connected correctly, adjusting C/K values, and verifying phase connections. If problems persist, switching off the regulator for at least 20 seconds is recommended before contacting technical support.
Technical Data
The equipment operates on a multivoltage supply of 380-415V a.c. with a rated consumption of 10 VA. It controls 6 to 8 banks and has a rated frequency of 50Hz. The equipment is designed for indoor service with a protection degree of IP54 on the front panel.
Warranty and Instructions
Comar Condensatori S.p.A. provides a twelve-month warranty covering material and manufacturing faults. The warranty is void if instructions are not followed or if tampering occurs. The equipment must be used as intended and protected from atmospheric conditions.
Liability
Comar Condensatori S.p.A. is not liable for damages resulting from incorrect operation or misuse. The manufacturer reserves the right to modify data and sizes without notice.

TABLE for medium current values of 2,5 Amps After setting the C/K value, press the button again for 4 sees to indicate the selected PF will illuminate. To release the buttons to change the selection. A PF of 0.95 is recommended. Example: setted C/K = "0.3" setted PF = "0.97" The regulator will switch bank to achieve a PF value within 0.94 and 1.00 (0.97 - 0.03) The - led near the two numbers display is illuminate if the P.F. value is more than 1.00. button the C/K and P.F. values which have been selected will be saved and the Regulator works in AUTOMATIC condition.

7. ALARMS The MPR has a normally closed N/C alarm contact (rated 5 A 250 V resistive load). It will be possible to give an external alarm signal. This contact is signed with X1 and X2 (ALARM) in the base of the regulator. When alarm condition disappears, the regulator will reset itself automatically. • • • • • No Supply voltage alarm When the voltage supply is lost, the digital display is off and the alarm contact (X1 and X2) is closed. Low PF value in the network If after 15 minutes the preset PF is not achieved, the alarm contact closes and the actual PF is displayed. At the same time the Cos...
