The Insight100 range by Cobalt Light Systems is a leading Liquid Explosive Detection System (LEDS) used extensively across the EU and Australia. It includes the Insight100M variant, which adds the capability to screen metallic containers using an additional sensor. This system is known for its high detection performance and low false alarm rates, making it suitable for security checkpoints with minimal resource impact and high throughput.
The Insight100 range boasts a false alarm rate of below 1% in Type B stand-alone mode, confirmed over several months at various EU airports. It is future-proof, capable of screening flammable materials, and can be updated to detect new threat materials as required by regulators. The system meets ECAC Standard 3, with a scan time of 5 seconds or less, and can identify and name specific threat materials.
The system is deployed in over 65 European airports, including 8 of the top 10 largest airports in Europe, demonstrating outstanding operational reliability. The Insight100 has a proven low false alarm rate, particularly impressive with bottled water, showing a FAR of approximately 0.02%.
The Insight100M variant extends capabilities to include metal containers, with a FAR of approximately 2.5%. It allows screening of all containers, including metals, in under 5 seconds. Existing Insight100 units can be upgraded to the Insight100M in the field within a few hours.
The system can screen various container types, including glass, plastic, cardboard, and metal, with sizes up to 33cm high and volumes from 10ml to over 3 litres. It handles liquids, aerosols, gels, and dense or viscous liquids. The system is a Class 1 laser system, CE marked, with power requirements of 90-264VAC 50-60Hz and less than 200W continuous power. Connectivity options include Ethernet and USB 2.0.
The system includes management software for compliance reporting, diagnostics, and centralized management of software upgrades and configurations. It is compatible with SeMS software packages and can run on low-cost server hardware or existing airport infrastructure.

Lowest False Alarm Rates Available System The Insight100 has proven low false alarm rates (FAR) in the field as well as in laboratory tests. Operational FARs for non-metallic items from the first phase of LAGs screening in Europe are consistently better than 1%. Bottled water alone is especially impressive with FARs of just 1 in 4,000 bottles (=0.02%).
