Product Preview COMMUNICATION SEMICONDUCTORS Multi-mode Wireless Data Modem wireless data is an important digital communication world. Narrowband wireless data systems play an important role in the professional markets, providing high link availability, speed, and security. CML's range of Wireless Data Modem ICs includes multi-mode devices that address multiple modulation schemes with flexibility • Half-duplex modem supporting multiple modulations • Direct connection to zero IF • Reconfigurable digital IF filters for multiple RF channel spacings • Deviation control without manual • Adaptive Coded Modulation (ACM) features allow over-air • Serial bus (C-BUS) controlled data buffers streamline transfers and relax host service latency • High-performance narrowband data radio • ETSI, FCC, ARIB compliant efficiency requirements • Software Defined Radio (SDR) • High-speed wireless data • Mobile data for fading channels The CMX7164 Multi-mode Wireless Data Modem is a half-duplex device that supports multiple modulation schemes and coding systems, all configurable under host control. Robust, flexible packet data structures include forward error correction and raw data modes, with and without configurable CRC, to support a wide range of application requirements. An integrated analogue interface supports direct connection to a zero IF l/Q radio receiver such as the CMX994/A/E Direct Conversion Receiver IC to enable a high integration wireless data modem to be realised. Adaptive Coded Modulation (ACM) features allow modulation type and block format to be changed on the fly to dynamically select data block size, coding rate and CRC size. Over-air commands enable the Tx host to select optimum modulation and coding per burst to suit application message size and link channel quality. They can also relax required Rx host message parsing speed. Intelligent auxiliary ADC, DAC and GPIO subsystems perform valuable functions and minimise host interactions and I/O resources. Two synthesised system clock generators develop signals for off-chip use. A C-BUS/SPI master interface expands host C-BUS/SPI ports to control external devices and in some situations, autonomously. The device utilises CML's proprietary FirmASIC® component technology. A Function Image™ (Fl) data file uploaded during device initialisation defines the device's function The CMX7164 operates from a 3.0 to 3.6 V supply, includes selectable powersaving mod and is available in small 64-pin VQFN and LQFP packages ""~ Modulation Suites Available Small VQFN /LQFP Packages " Power control

CMX7164 Multi-mode Wireless Data Modem Product Preview Modulation Schemes Supported The CMX7164 is intended for use in half-duplex modems. Transmission takes the form of a data burst consisting of preamble, frame sync and data payload, followed by a tail sequence. Reception may utilise the preamble to assist with signal acquisition, but is then followed by frame sync detection and data decoding. A flexible power control facility allows the device to be placed in its optimum powersave mode when not actively processing signals. The device includes a Xtal clock generator, with phaselocked-loop...
