Product catalog summary
Overview of High Density Scrubber (HDS)
The High Density Scrubber (HDS) is engineered to eliminate corrosive, malodorous, and toxic contaminants from air, particularly in environments such as municipal wastewater, industrial plants, and sewage treatment facilities. It features an industrial blower, a vessel with chemical media, and a discharge particulate filter section to ensure high removal efficiency and prolonged media life.
Key Components and Functionality
  • Industrial Blower: Mounted on a skid to propel contaminated air through the system.
  • Chemical Media Vessel: Utilizes MULTI-MIX® media to remove gaseous contaminants like hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine, and ammonia.
  • Discharge Particulate Filter: Equipped with ASHRAE rated final filters with 40% (MERV 9) and 90% (MERV 14) efficiency.
Performance and Maintenance
The system ensures a minimum residence time of 1.0 second for optimal contaminant removal. Media samples are periodically analyzed to verify media life and system performance.
Challenges Addressed
HDS effectively tackles issues from airborne contaminants in manufacturing processes, which can cause odor and corrosion problems, especially in oil and gas refineries, pulp and paper plants, and wastewater treatment facilities.
Comparison with Conventional Solutions
Unlike traditional wet scrubbers that require significant investment and maintenance and pose environmental risks, HDS dry scrubbers are more efficient for lower concentrations (less than 20 ppm) and require minimal servicing.
Options and Features
  • Service/media loading platform
  • 100% fan redundancy
  • Preheat section and control panel
  • Gas monitors and custom bed depths
  • Pressure-Gradient Control System (PGCS) and Differential Pressure Monitoring System (DPMS)
  • Various construction materials including stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum
Applications
HDS is applicable in various industries, including pulp & paper mills, oil & gas refineries, incineration plants, sewage treatment plants, and more.
Technical Specifications
Includes detailed tables on fan performance, filter requirements, air flow capacities, and motor performance. The system complies with standards from ASHRAE, AMCA, ASTM, ASW, IEEE, ANSI, OSHA, and ISA.
Construction and Design
The chemical media filter housing is made from materials like 316 stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc-coated steel, ensuring structural integrity and environmental sealing. The system includes features for easy media loading and unloading, with provisions for periodic sampling.
Introduction
This document provides detailed specifications for MULTI-MIX® media and associated systems, designed for air purification in industrial and commercial environments. The media combines adsorption and oxidation properties to effectively remove contaminants.
Media Specifications
  • MM-1000: Composed of activated alumina with potassium permanganate, designed for odor molecule oxidation.
  • MM-3000: Utilizes coal-based activated carbon for gas molecule adsorption.
  • MM-7000: Activated carbon with phosphoric acid for alkaline contaminant neutralization.
  • MM-9000: Activated carbon with potassium hydroxide for acid contaminant neutralization.
  • MM-1355 & MM-1955: Mixtures of MM-1000 with MM-3000 or MM-9000 for handling multiple gases.
HDS Specifications
  • Inlet Section and Pre-Filters: Constructed from stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc-coated steel. Pre-filters have a minimum efficiency of 30% (MERV 6).
  • Discharge Section & Filters: Similar construction to inlet section. After-filters and final filters have efficiencies of 30% and 90% (MERV 14) respectively.
  • Fan Section: Options include steel fans or fiberglass reinforced plastic fans, designed to meet AMCA standards.
Options and Accessories
  • Media Loading/Service Platform: Constructed of tubular steel with safety features.
  • Pressure Gauges: Dwyer series 2000 magnehelic gauges for monitoring filter sections.
  • Motor Starter Panel: Includes a NEMA-12 enclosure with various control features.
  • Pressure Gradient Control System (PGCS): Maintains room pressure with motorized dampers and pressure differential switches.
Services
  • TECH-CHEKTM Program: Provides media analysis and replacement scheduling.
  • Reactivity Monitoring Service (REMO): Diagnoses corrosion levels using monitoring coupons.
  • Sealing Integrity Verification (SIV): Measures room differential pressure to identify leakage areas.

THE SOLUTION TO CORROSION & ODOR CONTROL THE HIGH DENSITY SCRUBBER (HDS) The High Density Scrubber (HDS) removes corrosive, malodorous and toxic contaminants and is designed for applications requiring high removal efficiency and extensive media life. The HDS system integrates three principal components: an industrial blower, a vessel containing chemical media and a discharge particulate filter section. The contaminated air is blown through an even-flow plenum section by the skid-mounted industrial blower. The air is then forced up through a deep bed of MULTI-MIX® media for removal of gaseous...
