G-PLY

Product catalog summary
Description: G-plyTM is a Non-Crimp Fabric (NCF) composed of unidirectional layers (0°, 90°, +/-45°) that are mechanically sewn together. It is designed for use in composite solutions for closed molding.
Process: G-plyTM is particularly suited for infusion processes with external flow mediums, enhancing the mechanical performance of laminates. It can also be used in contact with or in Resin Transfer Molding (RTM).
Applications: The product is applicable in various markets including nautical, wind energy components, transportation, and industrial parts.
Construction: G-plyTM can be constructed in uni, bi, tri, or quadriaxial angles ranging from 0°/90°/-20° to 90°. It uses fibers such as glass, aramid, and hybrid, with mat weight ranging from 50 to 1200 gsm and total weight up to 4000 gsm.
Advantages: Compared to traditional fabrics, G-plyTM offers better mechanical properties, reduced laminate weight, cost savings, optimized resin flow during infusion, and improved surface appearance due to reduced resin accumulation. It is also malleable, allowing for customized construction.
Performance: The document includes performance comparisons showing that G-plyTM provides superior interlaminar shear stress and three-point bending stress compared to woven roving, with base values set at 100 for multiaxial NCF.
Disclaimer: All properties are average values provided for indication and are not intended for use as specifications. Users should assess the suitability of the product for their specific needs.

Reinforcements for Composites Solutions for Closed Molding DESCRIPTION G-plyTM is a NCF (Non-Crimp Fabric) made up of undirectional layers (0°, 90°, +/-45°) that are mechanically sewn together. PROCESS G-ply properties are particularly suited to infusion processes with external flow mediums, which allows to obtain a hight level of glass and to increase the mechanical performances of laminate. Compared to a fabric, the specific construction of G-PLY™ based on the successive stacking of layers of yarn, without intertwinning, provides: -> Better mechanical properties, enabling: • a reduction in the weight of the laminate. -> Optimised resin flow during infusion. -> Improved surface appearance: With the space between every yarn reduced, resin accumulation is restricted. During polymerisation, the resin thus contracts less, providing an impro- ved surface appearance (reduced print-through).
