Drilling - 1

Drilling With strict global parameters and definitions for tool data in accordance with ISO 13399, a common language has been found to permit the interaction with each other of the different systems. In addition to the specific dimensions of WNT tools, we also provide the ISO dimensions in the tool tables. Example table from the WNT catalogue The standardized and most valid form of Product Data Descriptionserves to ensure that a system-independent data exchange of tool data can take place between different systems involved in the production process. The standard provides data that is no longer purely vendor specific. Thus, the quality of information exchanged is improved. Use of a system according to ISO 13399 is time-saving, as it is no longer necessary to manually enter product data from the tool supplier. Drilling HSS drills - cutting data 1 The cutting data depends extremely on the external conditions, e.g. stability of the tool and tool clamping, material and machine type. The indicated values are possible cutting data which have to be increased or reduced according to the application conditions. When drilling tough materials which tend to jam, chips should be removed at drilling depth > 4xD and the cutting speed vc should be reduced as follows: at drilling depths > 4xD by 10 %, at drilling depths > 6xD by 15-20 %. It is also recommended to use an emulsion for cooling.

Drilling HSS drills - cutting data All the indicated data are guide values only and represent average values. Peck frequency for deep drilling ■ Drill must be sufficiently cooled ■ By use of a drill with flat chip gullet profile (type WTL) chip transport is substantially improved ■ Drills with coolant holes and an internal coolant supply are recommended for extremely deep holes or horizontal drilling applications
