Soldering Instructions for Actuators
Specifications:
  • Use a temperature-controlled soldering iron set to 320 °C with a tip width of less than 3 mm.
  • Utilize electronic grade solder wire with flux (L-Sn60PbAg4, F-SW26, or equivalent) or lead-free solder wire (S-Sn95Ag4Cu1). Avoid solder wires with aggressive flux.
Procedures:
  • Place the actuator on a thermally insulating surface such as ceramic, FR4, or thermal-resistant plastic.
  • First, create a small solder dot on the actuator, ensuring the soldering time is less than 10 seconds.
  • In a subsequent step, solder the pre-soldered leads to the solder dot.
  • If solder does not spread well, apply a small amount of flux (colophony resin in ethanol) to the solder pad before soldering. If issues persist, preheat the actuator to 60 °C using a heat plate or oven.
  • Avoid contact with the silicone-coated sides of the actuator using the soldering tip or bare hands; gloves should be worn.
Standards and Limitations:
  • The measured values are standard values determined for test samples based on DIN/DIN-VDE standards or CeramTec standards where applicable.
  • These values should not be applied to arbitrary formats or components with different surface qualities and do not guarantee specific properties.
  • Technical changes are reserved by CeramTec.
Recommendations:
  • Solder lead wires only to the designated soldering area, marked by a copper soldering pad inside the mesh electrode, indicated by a plus marker (black dot).
