The Coldwater Column Deaeration System utilizes structured packing, which consists of thin corrugated metal plates. These plates create a large surface area for contact between different phases, allowing the cold water to flow in a counter-current manner with CO2. This process removes oxygen, which exits the column at the top along with undissolved CO2.

DeGaS - Cold The Principle Structured packing typically consists of thin corrugated metal plates arranged in a way that they force liquids to take multiple paths through the column, thereby creating a large surface area for contact between different phases. The cold water passes the column in a counter current flow top-down to the strip gas CO2. The oxygen will leave the column at its top together with the not dissolved CO2 to the vent.
