Overview

This document provides the standard properties, technical conditions of use, measurement procedures, and available options for the PPA60L actuator developed by CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES.

Technical Conditions of Use and Measurement

  • Mounting Conditions: Free-free (actuator not fixed) and Blocked-free (actuator fixed to an infinitely stiff mechanical support).
  • Excitation Types: Quasistatic excitation with AC voltage between -20 and 150 V at 1 Hz; Harmonic excitation with 0.5 Vrms sinusoidal voltage from 0 to 100 kHz; Maximum harmonic excitation defined by max displacement at resonance frequency.
  • Measurement Methods: Displacement measured by laser interferometer or capacitive displacement sensor; Admittance measured using HP 4194 A or Cypher C60 electrical impedance analyzers.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ambient temperature between 15-25°C and dry air with humidity below 50% relative humidity.
  • Note: Using the actuator outside these standard conditions may cause temporary or permanent changes in properties; users are advised to contact CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES for non-standard applications.

Factory and Optional Tests

  • Test 1: Electrical admittance versus frequency (free-free condition).
  • Test 2: Displacement versus input voltage.
  • Test 3: Sensor gain and linearity.
  • Test 4: Step response in closed loop.
  • Test 5: Stability in closed loop.

Mechanical and Electrical Interfaces

  • Standard Mechanical Interface (Top and Base): One centered M3 threaded hole (5 mm deep) and four M2.5 threaded holes on a 15 mm diameter circle (4 mm deep).
  • Standard Electrical Interface: Two PTFE insulated AWG26 wires, 100 mm long, terminated with 1 mm banana plugs.

Available Options

  • Mechanical Interfaces: Flat Interface (FI), Flat Interface with hole (H), Flat Interface with threaded hole (TH - selected), Free-free Interface (FF), Specific Interface (SI - selected).
  • Sensors: Strain Gauges (SG - selected), Eddy Current Displacement Sensor (ECS).
  • Other Options: Non-magnetic (NM), Vacuum compatibility (VAC - selected), Specific version / Customization (SV - selected).

Important Notes

All properties are guaranteed within the specified variation ranges and under the defined standard technical conditions. Deviations from these conditions may affect actuator performance and reliability. Users should consult CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES for applications involving non-standard conditions or custom requirements.
