Overview PowerReach is a jib-crane solution that connects high-voltage (HV) vessels (typically RoRo and Ro-Pax), and low-voltage (LV) vessels (typically ferries), to shoreside electrical grids quickly and securely. It can also be used to charge AC and DC systems. The system performs rapid pay out and retrieval of HV and LV power cables and plugs, (with pilots and FO if required), with a dedicated cable dragging unit. PowerReach has a minimal quayside footprint, and its arm can be rotated and “parked” when not in use. The system is manoeuvred using Cavotec’s robust, lightweight and ergonomic push-button Radio Remote Control (RRC) units. Safety features include operator alerts that are triggered when cables are fully payed in or payed out and HV/LV shut-off in the event of excessive cable traction.
