This document provides detailed technical specifications, operational guidelines, maintenance instructions, and component information for the CPR-G series gravity feed spray guns equipped with HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) and pressure reduced air caps.

1. Specifications and Component Chart

• Air Caps and Fluid Nozzles: Various air caps (models 23-2101 pressure reduced and 23-1301 HVLP) and fluid nozzles ranging from 0.8 mm to 2.2 mm orifice sizes are available. The selection depends on the application and material viscosity.
• Maximum Gun Inlet Pressure: Both air caps operate at a maximum inlet pressure of 29 psi for HVLP compliance.
• Air Consumption: The pressure reduced air cap (23-2101) consumes 11 CFM at 29 psi, while the HVLP air cap (23-1301) consumes 13.5 CFM at the same pressure.
• Fan Control: Fan width is adjustable via a control knob; clockwise rotation narrows the spray fan.
• Fluid Flow Control: Fluid flow is primarily controlled by selecting the appropriate fluid orifice size, with the fluid control knob used for fine adjustments.

2. Application and Material Compatibility

• Fluid orifice and air cap combinations are selected based on the coating material type and viscosity, categorized as very thin, thin, medium, and heavy materials.
• Examples include inks, dyes, solvents, lacquers, enamels, primers, epoxies, urethanes, and adhesives.
• Recommended fluid orifice sizes range from 0.8 mm for very thin materials up to 2.2 mm for heavy body coatings.

3. Operation Instructions

1. Connect the air supply hose to the gun handle.
2. Attach the paint cup to the gravity feed fluid inlet.
3. Adjust fluid flow using the fluid control knob after selecting the proper fluid orifice size.
4. Adjust fan width with the fan control knob.

4. Maintenance Guidelines

• Routine cleaning is essential for optimal gun performance.
• Use covered gun cleaners where required by regulations to avoid solvent emissions.
• If no gun cleaner is available, remove and clean the air cap separately with solvent, clean the gravity feed cup thoroughly, and spray solvent through the gun until clean.
• Gun head disassembly is not recommended for routine cleaning but is detailed for repair purposes.

5. Gun Head Disassembly and Reassembly

• Disassembly involves removing the air cap, fluid nozzle tip and body, needle, needle seal cartridge, loosening locknut, and removing fluid inlet to slide out the nozzle carrier and air cap adapter.
• Reassembly requires installing new o-rings and seals, aligning fluid inlet ports, and tightening components to specified torque values (needle seal ~12 ft-lb, fluid inlet ~25 ft-lb, locknut ~33 ft-lb).
• Repair kit #10-105 contains necessary seals and parts for maintenance.

6. Parts List

A comprehensive list of parts with item numbers and descriptions is provided, including air caps, fluid tips, seals, springs, control knobs, and accessories such as gravity feed cups and cleaning tools.

7. Kits and Accessories

• Various kits are available, including PPS™ cup systems, regulators, cleaning brushes, and gun wrenches.
• HVLP air cap test gauges are available to verify compliance.

Critical Information and Best Practices

• Always select fluid orifice size based on material viscosity for optimal atomization and flow control.
• Maintain maximum inlet pressure at or below 29 psi for HVLP compliance.
