EuTronic® Arc 525 AS

Product catalog summary
Description: The 525AS aluminum wire is designed for the electric arc spray process, meeting the AA 1350 specification with a minimum of 99.5% aluminum content. It provides coatings resistant to atmospheric, chemical, and high-temperature corrosion, with excellent electrical and heat conductivity. Electric arc sprayed coatings offer greater bond strength compared to flame sprayed coatings.
Health & Safety: Ensure a safe work environment by following standard spraying practices, using appropriate respiratory protection, and understanding air flow patterns. Refer to AWS “Safety and Health Fact Sheet No.20 - Thermal Spray Safety” for guidance. Familiarize yourself with local safety regulations and thoroughly read equipment manuals before operation. Contact Eutectic for Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information.
Typical Coating Characteristics: Bond strength is 4375 psi (30.2 MP), deposit efficiency is 70%, hardness ranges from 30 to 75 HRB, coating density is 2.51 g/cm3, spray rate is 6 lb/hr/100 amps, and wire coverage is 0.3 oz/ft2/0.001”.
Typical Wire Characteristics: The wire has a melting point of 1215°F (657°C) and contains 99.5% aluminum.
Typical Applications: Suitable for corrosion protection in atmospheric and submerged water applications, chemical processing, electronics, heat conductivity, repair of aluminum castings, oil refining equipment, boat bottom interiors, and applications requiring thick coatings. For submerged conditions, a sealer is recommended for extended life.
Procedure for Use: Surfaces should be clean, white metal, free of oxides, dirt, grease, or oil. Recommended preparation methods include grit blasting with 24 mesh aluminum oxide, rough grinding, or rough machining in a lathe.
Availability: Wire diameters available are 2.0mm, 3.2mm (1/8“), and 4.8mm (3/16“), with other sizes available upon request.
Arc Spray Parameters: Typical parameters include air pressure of 50-60 psi, voltage of 28-30, amperage of 100-200, and standoff distance of 3-8 inches. These may vary depending on equipment used.
Finishing: EuTronic Arc 525AS coatings can be machined.
Contact Information: Eutectic Canada has offices in Eastern and Western Canada, with contact details provided for both locations.
