The alloy is designed for high wear resistance and superior abrasion and erosion resistance, ensuring consistent performance in Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) welding.
Typical Applications: The overlay provides excellent resistance to abrasion, erosion, corrosion, galling, and gauging on various metals, including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and nickel alloys. Common applications include crushing equipment, track undercarriage, and plastic extrusion feedscrews. Each carbide type is suited for specific conditions, such as low stress abrasion (CWC), intense heat resistance (MWC), and high stress abrasion (SWC).
Procedure for Use: Before welding, remove damaged material and clean the area. Match heat input to component dimensions and follow the prepared welding procedure for the specific base metal chemistry. Maintain low dilution with the base metal and allow the workpiece to cool slowly. Keep amperage and voltage low to preserve WC integrity while ensuring a well-bonded overlay.
Finishing: Coatings of EuTroLoy 16635G can be finished by grinding.
Coating Properties: The typical matrix hardness is 62 HRC, with carbide hardness varying by type: CWC (2200 VHN300), MWC (2100 VHN300), and SWC (3000 VHN300). The deposit density is 10.4 g/cm3, with a maximum service temperature of 650°C (1200°F). The Hall flow rate is 13.9 sec/50 g.
