POLARIS [PH 03 T A]

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the "PH" series of hydraulic gear pumps and motors, an evolution of the "POLARIS" series, designed for high-performance applications such as forklifts and skid steer loaders. The series features a new cast iron body for enhanced operating parameters and reduced noise levels.
Features
The PH series offers high working pressure and volumetric efficiency, even at high temperatures, long service life, low noise levels, and high versatility with compatibility with Polaris 20 family components. Built-in valves simplify circuit design.
Specifications
Displacements range from 19.09 cm3/rev to 33.03 cm3/rev. The maximum continuous pressure is 3625 psi (250 bar), with a maximum speed of 3500 min-1. The fluid temperature range is -13°F to 212°F (-25°C to 100°C), and the recommended viscosity range is 60 to 456 SSU.
Construction and Design
The pumps and motors feature heavy-duty external gear construction with 3-piece design. Mounting options include European, SAE, and German standard flanges, with direction of rotation options: anti-clockwise, clockwise, and reversible.
Performance and Efficiency
Volumetric efficiency is approximately 0.97 for pumps and 0.96 for motors. Hydro-mechanical efficiency is approximately 0.88 for pumps and 0.85 for motors, with overall efficiency at approximately 0.85 for pumps and 0.82 for motors.
Noise Reduction
The POLARIS PH series is designed to significantly reduce noise levels, with specific test conditions and performance curves provided for various pump models.
Multiple Pumps
The series allows for coupling multiple pumps, with the highest power requirement pump placed at the drive shaft end, featuring common inlet and separated stages for system efficiency.
Mounting and Installation
Detailed dimensions and mounting flange types are provided for various pump models, with rear cover materials available in cast iron and aluminum.
Conclusion
The POLARIS PH series offers robust, versatile, and efficient solutions for demanding hydraulic applications, with detailed specifications and performance data provided for optimal selection and integration.
Additional Specifications
The document outlines various versions of the Polaris PH 20 with outboard bearing, detailing conditions such as lubricant oil ISO VG 46, operating temperature of 60°C (140°F), and a speed of 2000 min-1. Radial load varies across versions, with a consistent rating fatigue life of approximately 2000 hours.
Drive Shafts
Different types of drive shafts are specified, including European and German tapered, straight, and spline types, with specific size restrictions and mounting face codes. Compatibility tables for mounting flanges and drive shafts are provided.
Ports and Connections
Various in/out port types and sizes are specified, including German, European, and SAE standards, with tightening torque values for low and high-pressure side ports and details on external drain ports.
Valve Options
Several valve options are described, including priority valves, electric valves for motors, max pressure relief valves, load sensing valves, and check valves, each with specific functionalities and configurations.
Installation Instructions
Guidelines emphasize matching the direction of rotation and using flexible couplings, with recommendations for tank capacity, line diameters, and filter usage to ensure optimal system performance.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance checks are advised, including keeping the drive shaft seal area clean and replacing filters to prevent wear and leakage.
Overview
This document provides detailed specifications and ordering information for Polaris PH hydraulic pumps and motors, including single and double units, outlining various configurations, components, and options available for customization.
Ordering Procedures
Instructions are provided for ordering both single and double pump units, specifying how to configure the pumps by selecting appropriate codes for each component, such as drive shaft type, mounting flange, port positions, and seal options.
Standards and Recommendations
The document emphasizes the importance of regular maintenance, such as checking and replacing oil based on operating conditions, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the pumps.
Key Data from Tables
Tables provide a comprehensive breakdown of available options for each component of the pumps, including types of seals (Buna and Viton), cover options (cast iron and aluminum), and shaft seal options. Various port configurations are detailed, such as German, European, SAE, and BSPP flanged ports.
Critical Information
The document highlights the necessity of selecting the correct seals based on temperature conditions and provides guidance on material choices for mounting flanges and rear covers. It also notes that product specifications may change without notice due to continuous improvement policies.

A CASAPPA FLUID POWER DESIGN FEATURES The new gear pumps and motors “PH” series is an evolution of the “POLARIS” series. “POLARIS PH” has a new body made of cast iron to have higher operating parameters and keep the full POLARIS versatility regarding shafts, flanges, ports and built-in valves. This project is targeted for forklifts, skid steer loaders and all those applications where traditional aluminum pumps are being pushed close to their limits. The possibility to mate the body with the cast iron covers further reduces noise levels, in addition to increasing strength. • High working pressure...

POLARIS series pumps can be coupled together in combination. Where the input power requirements of each section varies, that with the greater requirement must be at the drive shaft end, and progressively smaller to the rear. Features and performances are the same as the corresponding single pumps, but pressures must be limited by the transmissibletorque of the drive and connecting shafts. To have appropriate data, use the formula below. The maximum rotational speed is that of the lowest rated speed of the single units incorporated. Available with common inlet and separated stages.
