WBF1-89-SC-1

The WBF1-89-SC has been specifically designed to meet the exacting requirements of Wind Turbine rotor braking applications, where failsafe stopping power is required when hydraulic power cannot be guaranteed. The WBF1-89-SC is designed for gearbox mounting and features a spring applied, floating caliper. This enables the brake to self-centre on the disc during operation, catering for axial displacements in the drive train. Constructed from ductile cast iron, the WBF1-89-SC has one 80 mm diameter spring pack, and is fitted with a position backstop as standard to minimise brake response times. This unique combination of features ensures that the WBF1-89-SC provides reliable long term operation over extremes of environmental conditions, and simplified in-service inspection and maintenance for the duration of the Wind Turbine’s lifetime. Key Features • Spring applied (failsafe), hydraulically released • Range of spring packs available for varied braking forces • Self-centering design to eliminate lining drag • Offset adjustment mechanism to compensate for lining wear • Low weight for simplified installation and maintenance • Sintered metallic linings for high speed/high energy applications • Large brake lining area for reduced wear and reduced operating temperatures • Lining retraction system to eliminate brake drag when brake is not applied • Small air gap (between disc and lining) for minimum brake reaction time • Few moving parts for increased lifetime and easy maintenance • -40°C to 70°C operational range brakes wind turbine experienced, global, reliable Customer Options • Carlisle NoiseFree organic (non-asbestos) linings • Electrical lining wear status indicator • Extreme cold climate (-50°C) version • Offshore version available • Fully customised caliper designs WBF1-89-SC Spring Applied Disc Brake
