Overview
Silicon Lithium (Si(Li)) detectors are semiconductor devices used for detecting x-rays in various applications such as x-ray fluorescence, microanalysis, and diffraction. They operate effectively over an energy range from a few hundred eV to 50 keV.

Specifications
Canberra's Si(Li) detectors are designed to be stable at room temperature, eliminating the need for liquid nitrogen (LN2) during shipping and storage. Two versions are available: the standard detector with a gold surface barrier entrance window and the Super Si(Li) with a proprietary geometry and entrance window that enhances resolution and peak/background ratio.

Signal Processing and Electronics
The detectors come with a low-noise preamplifier using pulsed-optical feedback and a specially fabricated FET cooled in a cryostat. The Model 2026 amplifier minimizes noise using active filters and a gated baseline restorer. It includes a pileup rejector and live-time corrector for accurate data acquisition. The Model 2026X-2 is specifically designed for Super Si(Li) Detectors.

Safety Features
The 1786 liquid nitrogen monitor protects the detector from damage due to warm-up, with alarms and automatic bias shutdown if LN2 is depleted.
