Features Beta contamination control of surfaces and clothes Dual Geiger Mueller detectors with a 1.5 mg/cm2 thin mica window and 44 mm diameter SBM-2D Soft Beta Dual Detector Probe Description The SBM-2D probe is intended for frisking of beta contamination of surfaces and clothes. It consists of two thin-window Geiger Mueller detectors, a high-voltage power supply and pulse shaping circuits. It can be connected to the MIP 21A, CAB, MIP 10A and ECM 21 with an appropriate cable. It is also compatible with the new MIP 10 Digital. Specifications NUCLEAR DETECTORS – Two Geiger Mueller detectors with a 1.5 to 2 mg/cm2 thin-window (mica substrate with a graphite deposit). –  44 mm (1.7 in.) active diameter; 2 x 15 cm2 active area.   Polished stainless steel protection grid transparency: 60%. – ■ BACKGROUND COUNT RATE – Ambient <0.1 µGy/h: 0.5 c/s typical (< 2.0 c/s). ■ g SENSITIVITY – 12 c/s per µGy/h (60Co). ■ EFFICIENCY/DETECTION LIMIT – 7 cm2 radioactive source, at the center of a detector and at 2 mm from the protection grid. ■ b Detection efficiency over 2p: Typical detection limit – within 2/3rd of cases  (“SD”) in 1 s: in 5 s: – within 90% of cases in 5 s: in 10 s: a DETECTION EFFICIENCY OVER 2p – 18% (239Pu) 27% (241Am).
