Overview
The GP Series Geiger Mueller Detectors are rugged, halogen-quenched GM tubes designed for wide-range gamma radiation measurement. They utilize the patented Canberra Time-to-Count technique, which eliminates the limitations of conventional GM tubes, such as dead time and saturation effects. These detectors are SMART probes, storing calibration data in non-volatile memory, allowing for interchangeability without recalibration.

Principle of Operation
The GP Series uses a pair of halogen-quenched GM tubes for gamma radiation detection. The Time-to-Count technique involves rapidly increasing the bias voltage to 500 V dc, initiating a time count until a GM tube pulse is detected. This method ensures full-size pulses and a statistically reliable average time-to-count, providing a linear performance over many decades.
