ACSIS™
ACSIS™ (Automated Composite Structure Inspection System) is a leading solution developed by Ingersoll Machine Tools for the automated inspection, repair, and quality monitoring of composite manufacturing processes. First released in 2016, it has set the industry standard for automated inspection.
The system offers two configurations: an 'in-ply' configuration for in-situ inspection of large structures and a 'post-ply' module for complex geometries.
ACSIS™ excels in identifying and measuring layup defects such as overlaps, gaps, twists, missing tows, and splices across various materials. It boasts a defect detection rate of over 99% and complies with existing NDI standards.
Defects are presented to operators via an interactive tablet or smart-watch application, paired with a laser projector or Augmented Reality interface using Microsoft HoloLens. Operator feedback is used to refine machine learning models, which are requalified through Ingersoll’s patented training software.
All inspection results are logged electronically in the Defect Cloud interface for offline review. This data helps identify trends in defect occurrences and provides insights into machine health, aiding in the improvement of current and future parts production.
