A wide temperature range covers most general industrial applications. Both units offer a narrow 12:1 field of view, with a small diameter measurement area allowing the unit to be precisely aimed. The default emissivity setting is 0.95, making the ST633 and ST642 ideal for most organic materials and non-reflective (painted, oxidised or anodised) metals. The emissivity setting is selectable (ST633) or adjustable from 0.1 to 1.0 (ST642), and can be set automatically on the ST642 by using the thermocouple input and eSmart feature. Both models have adjustable audible alarms. The ST642 has visual alarms: the colour of the display changes when the target temperature exceeds the alarm set point. Temperature Range Readings can be taken in °C or °F, and when the trigger is released the last measurement is held for approximately 7 seconds before the unit automatically powers off. These thermometers will operate in ambient temperatures from 0°C to 50°C and are powered by a standard PP3, 9V battery.
