Product catalog summary
Bending Process Overview
Bending is a crucial step in shaping flat sheet metal after cutting. It involves using a wedge-shaped tool to press the workpiece into a v-shaped opening to achieve the desired angle. The document outlines various bending techniques such as air bending, dynamic crowning, and stamping, each offering different levels of precision and applications.
Air Bending and Dynamic Crowning
Air bending allows for flexible angle adjustments without changing tools, as the angle is determined by the depth of the tool's plunge. Dynamic crowning, featured in Bystronic's Xpert models, automatically adjusts the lower beam's curvature during bending, ensuring precision and consistency, especially for long parts.
Stamping
Stamping involves pressing the workpiece into the die with more pressure than air bending, allowing for high precision in angles and accommodating various sheet thicknesses and material spring backs. Bystronic pressbrakes ensure precise pressure for high-quality stamping.
Precision and Technology
Precision is vital in bending, with Bystronic using hydraulic dynamic crowning and advanced sensors to achieve exact results. The document emphasizes compensating for deviations and the importance of intelligent bending processes.
Machine Specifications
The document provides specifications for Bystronic pressbrake models, detailing capacities for sheet thickness, tonnage, and bending lengths. Models like Xpert, Xact Smart, and Xcite 80 E offer benefits such as high precision, flexibility, and ease of use.
Customer Benefits and Features
Bystronic pressbrakes offer high positioning and angle precision, flexibility for complex tasks, and a wide range of bending tools. Features like high-speed operation, energy-saving capabilities, and user-friendly interfaces enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Automation and Software

Catalog Bending + automation-4

Bending Bending is a procedure for forming a flat, sheet metal workpiece. It immediately follows cutting in the processing chain. The workpiece lies on a bottom tool with a v-shaped opening. A wedge-shaped tool (punch) presses the workpiece into the v-opening and thus bends it to the desired angle.

Air bending During air bending, the upper tool presses the workpiece into the bottom tool opening, however without bottoming. The workpiece rests solely on the two edges of the bottom tool during the entire bending process. The bending angle is determined by how deep the top tool plunges into the bottom tool. Air bending permits bending at various angles without a tool change. Stamping During stamping, the stamp presses the workpiece into the die with a pressure that is much greater than during air bending. Since the stamp and die have the same angle, the workpiece is "stamped out". As a forming...
