Product catalog summary
Preface: This document provides detailed instructions for the installation, maintenance, and operation of Busch COBRA DS 0080-2000 G screw vacuum pumps. It highlights the necessity of understanding the manual before using the equipment and keeping it accessible.
Product Description: The COBRA DS vacuum pumps are designed for industries like microelectronics, capable of handling gases and gas mixtures but not suitable for explosive environments. Safety regulations must be followed when handling toxic or flammable gases. The pumps operate efficiently across various pressures and temperatures, with a limit of six starts per hour.
Operating Principle: The pumps use a screw mechanism driven by water-cooled motors. Models DS 080-0160 G are streamlined DP screw pumps, while DS 0700/1000/2000 G models combine screw and Roots vacuum pump technologies for enhanced performance.
Installation and Start-up: Detailed instructions cover the installation site, connections (inlet, discharge, cooling water, nitrogen, and electrical), and initial start-up procedures. Proper oil and cooling liquid filling are crucial for optimal operation.
Safety: The document outlines intended use, safety information, and noise emission considerations, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and equipment damage.
Maintenance: A maintenance program includes weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks, as well as procedures for oil and cooling liquid checks and changes. Lockout/tagout procedures are covered for safety during maintenance.
Transport and Storage: Guidelines for transporting the pumps in packed and unpacked states, as well as temporary storage and preservation, ensure the equipment remains in good condition.
Technical Data: Specifications for oil and cooling liquid types and quantities, along with technical data relevant to the operation and maintenance of the pumps, are included.
Pressure and Monitoring: The vacuum pump operates with specific pressure settings: 5 mbar for DS 0700 and 10 mbar for DS 1000, 2000 G. A pressure sensor monitors discharge pressure, initiating a purge cycle if pressure exceeds 0.2 bar.
Oil Circuit: The pump operates without an oil circuit due to its contactless design.
Cooling System: The pump is cooled by water in the cylinder chambers and a direct circuit in the motors. A thermostatic valve controls water flow, maintaining temperatures between 50°C and 90°C.
Nitrogen System: Nitrogen serves as a dilution, sealing, and purge gas, injected at different points with adjustable flow rates. Warnings and alarms are generated if flow is insufficient.
Optional Accessories: Includes a relief valve, pressure switch, temperature sensor, silencer, and leak-protection valve. The LCD controller displays sensor data.
Safety and Handling: The pump is intended for industrial use by qualified personnel. Safety instructions are categorized by severity: DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. Noise levels require ear protection in certain areas.
Installation and Start-up Procedures: Ensure leakproof connections for the vacuum pump and discharge lines. Connect cooling water and nitrogen properly, and follow electrical connection standards. Ensure correct oil and cooling liquid levels before startup.
Operational Recommendations: Designed for microelectronics and similar industries, ensuring compliance with safety regulations when using toxic or explosive gases. Suitable for continuous duty at any pressure between atmosphere and ultimate pressure.
Maintenance and Shutdown: Drain cooling water and liquid if the pump is shut down for extended periods. Follow all installation instructions for first start-up.
System Operation and Shutdown Procedures: For systems with a solenoid gate valve, ensure proper operation and shutdown procedures, including turning off the vacuum pump, nitrogen supply, and cooling water supply.
Maintenance Safety Precautions: Wear protective clothing when handling contaminated gases. Only authorized personnel should dismantle the vacuum pump, and a contamination declaration form must be completed.
Maintenance Procedures: Regular checks and maintenance tasks are outlined, including weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections and oil and cooling liquid management.
Removal and Recommissioning: Ensure lines are at atmospheric pressure before removal. Check for jammed rotors and remove protective elements before recommissioning.
Dismantling and Disposal: Contaminated pumps require protective clothing during dismantling. Proper disposal of oil, cooling liquid, and the pump itself is mandatory.
Oil and Cooling Liquid Specifications: Use specified oil types and quantities for different pump models. Cooling liquid should be a 40% glycol and 60% water mix.
Technical Data: Includes nominal suction capacity, ultimate pressure, motor ratings, noise levels, and cooling requirements for various models.
EU-Declaration of Conformity: The vacuum pumps comply with European Directives and standards, including machinery safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and RoHS regulations.
Global Contact Information: Contact details for Busch offices worldwide are provided.

Principle of DP vacuum pumps The COBRA NS screw vacuum pumps work by the principle of spiral pumps. Two parallel screws (8) rotate in opposite directions in the pump body. Entering gases are trapped between the flights of the screws and the pump body. The gases are conveyed by the rotation of the screws to the exhaust, where they are discharged. Principle of MB vacuum pumps The WY Roots vacuum pumps operate according to the approved principle of the Roots type machine. Operation is both simple and effective. Two lobe rotors (1) with identical profiles rotate in opposition directions within a...

Transport in unpacked state The vacuum pump is fastened to the pallet with fixing pins: u Unscrew the fastening nuts underneath the pallet. CAUTION Do not work, walk or stand under suspended loads. NOTE: VCI is the abbreviation for “volatile corrosion inhibitor”. The VCI molecule is an organic corrosion inhibitor in the vapour phase. Integrated in various carriers such as film, cardboard, paper, foam, liquid and powder, it protects the parts against corrosion as a result of its action in the vapour phase. However, VCI packaging can attack synthetic surfaces and surfaces of other elastomers. If...
