Overview: The document provides detailed technical information and guidelines for the model 8561 2-axis load cell, which uses four bending beams and strain gages to measure force. It includes specifications, installation instructions, and operational guidelines.

Specifications: Constructed using aviation materials, the load cell converts force into a linear extension using a spring element and strain gages configured in a Wheatstone bridge to minimize measurement errors. The rated output is typically around 2 mV/V with a recommended excitation voltage of 5 V.

Installation and Usage: Proper installation requires a stable, hardened, and flat mounting surface. The load cell should be protected from external forces such as vibrations and torsional moments, which can affect measurement accuracy. Electrical connections must be insulated and protected from electromagnetic interference.

Calibration and Maintenance: Each load cell comes with a test and calibration certificate. Calibration of downstream electronics is necessary for accurate measurements. Regular checks for overload and proper grounding are recommended.

Technical Data and Compliance: The load cell complies with EN 61326-1:2013 and EN 61326-2-3:2006 standards for electromagnetic compatibility. Technical data and accessory details are available on the manufacturer's website.

Disposal: Users are advised to dispose of the load cell in accordance with statutory regulations to protect the environment.

Concept and general information Please refer to the data sheet for the model 8561 2-axis load cell for full details of dimensions, weight, degree of protection etc. Mechanical design The model 8561 2-axis load cell consists of two spring elements in the form of bending beams, which are joined to the central part. Strain gages X/Y measuring elements with strain gages applied A radial force in the central part of the load cell deforms these measuring elements, causing a displacement of the measuring axis. The resulting elongation is not visible to the naked eye and is measured using strain gages....

Foil strain gage Special techniques are used to mount strain gages manufactured in this way onto the surface of the spring element. Strain gage wiring In order to reduce undesirable influences on the measurement, in the model 8561 2-axis load cell four strain gages are connected as a Wheatstone bridge for each measurement direction. Figure 3 illustrates this wiring in a simplified form. Full-bridge strain gage on the model 8561 2-axis load cell for one measurement direction To reduce the effect of temperature, modulus-compensation strain gages are used. In addition to the four strain gages shown...

External forces External forces here refers to any force that does not act radially to the sensor’s axis of symmetry – particularly transverse forces, bending moments and torsional forces. NOTICE Damage to the model 8561 2-axis load cell Avoid vibrations, even if the generated loads remain below the rated load and avoid external forces acting on the load cell. Design your measuring system in such a way as to prevent these external forces. IMPORTANT: External forces acting on the model 8561 2-axis load cell will significantly falsify the measurement result!
