Product catalog summary
Product Description: The Burster Load Cell Model 8417 is designed to measure tension or compression forces through axially mounted metric threads on its cylindrical housing. It is crucial that forces are applied only to the threads to avoid external influences like bending or torsion. The sensor uses a strain gage full bridge on a membrane for measurement, requiring stable excitation of approximately 1 mV/V.
Highlights: The load cell offers measuring ranges from 0 to 10 N up to 5 kN, features small dimensions, low weight, and easy mounting. Options include TEDS, vacuum compatibility, and various cable lengths.
Applications: Suitable for girder assembly, tool manufacturing, machinery manufacture, and the aviation industry.
Technical Data: The load cell provides accuracy with non-linearity, characteristic curve deviation, and hysteresis all ≤ ±0.5% F.S. It operates within a nominal temperature range of +15 °C to +70 °C and has a protection class of IP54. The material is stainless steel, and it supports dynamic performance up to 70% of capacity.
Mounting Instructions: Forces must be applied centrically and free from lateral force. The sensor can be locked or glued to the thread for secure fitting. Care must be taken to avoid high tensile and bending forces on the cable outlet.
Electrical Termination: The sensor uses a shielded, PTFE-coated 4-wire cable. The output signal is dependent on the sensor supply voltage, and TEDS is available for easy sensor exchange and maximum accuracy.
Calibration: The sensor comes with a test and calibration certificate. Factory calibration is performed in 20% steps, and special calibration certificates are available upon request.
Order Code: Various configurations are available based on measuring range, cable length, and connector type. The brochure and product videos are available online for further information.

Delivery: ex stock | Warranty: 24 months Miniature Tension and Compression Load Cell Measuring ranges from 0 ... 10 N Highlights ■ Measuring ranges from 0 ... 10 N up to 0 ... 5 kN ■ Very small dimensions ■ Easy mounting via long fixing threads ■ Vacuum compatible design ■ Rod ends available as add-on part ■ Various cable lengths can be ordered Load cell model 8417 measures the tension or compression force between both axially mounted metric exterior threads on the cylindrical sensor housing. Forces are only applied to the threadings, which are especially long, to accommodate counter nuts and must not be affected by external influences such as bending, lateral force or torsion. Any contact with units affixed to the sensor housing - even on the front -must be avoided. The measurement element is a membrane perpendicular to the axis of the sensor with a strain gage full bridge applied to the inner surface, which requires stable excitation with a rated value of approx. 1 mV/V. The connection cable is led radially out of the housing through a sleeve which is used for strain relief. burster Sensors and Process Instruments - Technical changes reserved. burster load cells are based on a strain-gage Wheatstone bridge. This measurement principle means that the output voltage mV/V is highly dependent on the sensor supply voltage. Our website contains details of suitable instrumentation amplifiers, indicator and display devices and process instruments. The "burster Transducer Electronic Data Sheet" (TEDS) is a memory in which identification data of the sensor, calibration data and other sensor parameters are saved. In conjunction with your own suitable burster device, there is the option of performing a simple adjustment in order to achieve the...
