Product catalog summary
Introduction and Description
The BNK ATEX-3GD series of off-line coolers by Bühler Technologies GmbH are designed for use in explosive areas, specifically zones 2 (gas) and 22 (dust), and are classified under temperature class 3. These coolers are essential for maintaining consistent power in hydraulic systems by stabilizing oil temperature, which is crucial for the longevity and performance of the oil used as a power transfer medium and lubricant. The series features a noise-optimized fan and a built-in gerotor pump to handle fluctuating oil flow and varying ambient temperatures.

Why Coolers?
Off-line coolers are often the best solution for both mechanical and economic reasons, not just an emergency measure. The BNK series integrates a circulation pump with the fan motor, optimizing the system's performance and noise levels. The coolers are designed for easy maintenance, with the cooling matrix removable without uninstalling the fan or motor.

Construction and Application
The BNK coolers consist of a cooling matrix, a fan case with mounting rails, and a blower and pump unit. The components can be individually removed for maintenance. The cooling matrix is made from aluminum and is suitable for hydraulic circuits. Various bypass versions are available.

ATEX Marking
The ATEX marking provides information on equipment category, group, ex-atmosphere, and ignition protection type. The equipment is suitable for gas and dust atmospheres, but these must not be present simultaneously.

Technical Data
The coolers are constructed with aluminum cooling batteries and stainless steel components. They operate with mineral oils and gear oils, with a maximum operating pressure of 8 bar and oil temperature of 80°C. The electric motors comply with IEC standards and have a protection class of IP 55.

Basic Data and Model Key
The document provides detailed specifications for various models, including cooling power, circulation rate, power output, and noise emission levels. A calculation example is provided to determine the appropriate cooler size based on specific cooling performance and temperature differential.

Dimensions and Functional Diagram
Dimensions for different models are provided, along with a functional diagram illustrating the oil inlet and outlet positions for standard and bypass versions.

Off-line cooler BNK ATEX-3GD-1

Off-line cooler BNK ATEX-3GD Drives and hydraulic aggregates are also used in explosive areas in machine construction or raw material production. In hydraulic systems oil transfers power and motion, in drives it’s a vital lubricant. Both as a power transfer medium and lubricant oil is heated by friction losses during operation. Oil/ air coolers stabilise the temperature and are indispensable for systems and drives for consistent power. The temperature further affects the ageing behaviour and the life of oils. BNK ATEX 3GD series coolers are suitable for use in zones 2 (gas) and 22 (dust) and temperature class 3. In addition to adequately protected drive motors they are designed for easy maintenance and have a noise-optimised fan. ATEX area of application: up to zone 2 and zone 22 T3 Easy to maintain design System-compatible cooling matrix / flow rate ratio Low noise emission Rugged cooling matrix High suction pump Compact installation dimensions To minimise the negative fluctuating oil flow has on the cooler design with varying ambient air temperatures, the BNK ATEX series features a built-in gerotor pump to circulate the oil.

BNK ATEX-3GDIntroduction and description Why coolers? In many cases, installing an off-line cooler is not only an emergency solution, but also the best solution with respect to mechanics and economics. Oftentimes off-line filtration can also be incorporated quite effectively. Since a bypass also always requires installation of a separate circulation pump, it’s reasonable to combine it with the motor already installed for the fan. The BNK series is a tiered line of oil/air coolers with circulation pump directly flange-mounted. The cooler size and pump flow rate are coordinated for performance...
