Step by step ambient pressure is reduced from atmospheric pressure to the 10-3 mbar range. As the glass moves along, it converts from a cyclic loading sequence to a continuous substrate flow.
Open the catalog to page 6PROCESS AREA AC-Power Supply Rotating Targets Gas Supply Pump Unit Process Area: Here individual layers are applied during the stack sequence. How? By using DC and AC driven PVD tools (sputtering cathodes). Various target materials (metals and/or ceramics) and specific gas atmospheres create the desired functional coatings (dielectrics, absorbers, reflectors, conductors, etc.).

As the ambient pressure rises, processing conditions gradually convert to atmospheric pressure. The transport sequence reverts back to a discontinuous substrate flow.
