SVI? Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) Assembly for Relief Valve Isolation

Product catalog summary
Overview
The SVI is a single-use rupture disk assembly designed for isolating safety relief valves and retrofitting with fixed piping. It is available in standard sizes ranging from 1 1/2 inch (40mm) to 6 inches (150mm) and fits between standard companion flanges.

Features
  • Solid metal reverse buckling S-90 disk welded into a holder assembly.
  • Petals open along cross-scored lines.
  • Standard disk materials include nickel and Inconel®, with the body and flange made of 316 stainless steel.
  • Optional fluoropolymer boot for added corrosion resistance.
  • Manufacturing design range (MDR) options of -5% and -10%.

Benefits
  • Leak-tight welded construction.
  • Simple installation without sensitivity to companion flange torque.
  • Compatible with standard flat fiber, elastomer, or spiral wound gaskets.
  • Designed for non-fragmentation and full vacuum resistance.
  • Back pressure resistant to at least burst pressure.
  • Compact, low mass construction.
  • Available with ASME “UD” stamp or “CE” mark.

Engineering Information
The SVI body is made of 316 stainless steel, with other materials available upon request. The rupture disk assemblies have a +5% burst tolerance and are available with 5% and 10% MDR. Performance tolerance combines MDR and burst tolerance into a single rating for CE marked assemblies.

Specifications
Minimum and maximum pressure ratings are provided for different nominal sizes and materials at 72°F (22°C). Recommended maximum temperatures are 900°F (482°C) for Inconel® and 750°F (398°C) for Nickel.

Selection and Ordering
  1. Select the proper SVI assembly to fit the pipe size.
  2. Check material suitability for application pressure, temperature, and corrosion resistance.
  3. Specify quantity, temperature, burst pressure, optional fluoropolymer boot, and materials for disk and body when ordering.
