Product Overview
BOPLA is a bio-based and biodegradable film made from renewable resources. It offers high stiffness, resistance to oil, fat, and alcohol, and is impermeable to moisture and water vapor. The film is highly transparent with exceptional surface gloss, twistable with excellent deadfold, and sealable on both sides with high sealing strength. It also boasts excellent thermoformability and printability, and adheres well to paper and board.

The film is designed for various applications including bags for bread and bakeries, packaging for fresh food, cheese, butter, shrink sleeve film, high modulus label films, twist wrap, envelope windows, plastic folders, packaging for perfumes and cosmetics, and thermoforming products.

Production Specifications
Two line concepts are available: a 6.6m concept and a 4.2m concept. The annual output for the 6.6m line is 13,610 tpa (28,365,000 lbs/a) with an output per hour of 1,815 kg/h (4,000 lbs/h). The 4.2m line has an annual output of 9,450 tpa (20,855,000 lbs/a) with an output per hour of 1,260 kg/h (2,780 lbs/h). Both lines operate at a production speed of 200 m/min (660 ft/min) and support a thickness range of 15 – 50 µm (0.6 – 2 mil).

Technological Features
Brückner's technology includes twin screw extrusion that requires no additional drying, a die specifically designed for PLA, a special drive motor concept for constant speeds, and unique winding technology for perfect further processing. Retrofit concepts are available for BOPET, BOPA, or BOPS lines, supported by extensive R&D experience in various PLA film types.
