BrownMODEL 5500 SIZER APPLICATIONS: The Model 5500 is readily adapted to accurately size and distribute various types of citrus fruit for processing. The volume of fruit to be processed and the types and numbers of extractors to be utilized determines the configuration of the sizer. The configuration of the sizer is the combination of the number of “runs” or sizing lanes and the length of the sizer or number of “bays”. OPERATION: The Model 5500 Sizer consists of groups of round belting running parallel to a series of rotating sizer rolls. Sizing of the individual fruit occurs as the fruit settles into sizing pockets between the lower belt and the sizing roll. The belts operate at different speeds, causing the fruit to interact and rotate as it proceeds down the length of the sizer. This exposes the fruits smallest cross section to the sizing roll and it settles into the appropriate size zone minimizing the carryover of small fruit. Adjusting the sizing is quickly accomplished by adjusting screws that raise or lower the sizer rolls at each bay ensuring consistent sizing in all rows in that bay. A wash system providing for complete cleanup is available. CONSTRUCTION: Various stainless steels alloys and FDA approved plastics are used throughout the Model 5500 Sizer including the frame members and supports.
