Product catalog summary
Introduction
Bronkhorst High-Tech B.V. is a prominent European manufacturer specializing in thermal Mass Flow Meters/Controllers and Electronic Pressure Controllers. With over 40 years of experience, their customizable instruments are suitable for laboratory, industrial, and hazardous environments.

LOW-ΔP-FLOW Series
This series is tailored for applications requiring minimal differential pressure or handling corrosive gases. It features a large bore capillary and cylindrical flow splitter to reduce flow resistance, supporting mass flow capacities from 0…10 mln/min to 0…1000 m3n/h. The design minimizes clogging and eases cleaning, enhancing durability when used with corrosive gases. Wetted parts are made of stainless steel, with options for Hastelloy or Monel.

Industrial and Laboratory Use
Based on the EL-FLOW series, the LOW-ΔP-FLOW series can be equipped with an IP65 housing for industrial settings and is ATEX Category 3 approved for Zone 2 hazardous areas. It supports digital communication protocols like DeviceNet™, CANopen®, and PROFIBUS®DP.

Mass Flow Control
The series includes compact Mass Flow Controllers (models F-200/201/202) known for fast and smooth control. For higher flow rates at low differential pressures, special control valves with pressure compensation bellows (series F-004) are available.

Features
  • Very low pressure drop
  • Suitable for corrosive gases
  • Larger flow channels to minimize clogging
  • IP65 housing and ATEX approval for hazardous areas
  • Fieldbus interfaces for various communication protocols

Technical Specifications
Accuracy is ±1% FS, with a turndown ratio of 1:50. Operating temperature ranges from -10 to +70°C, with a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar. Instruments require a 30-minute warm-up for optimal accuracy.

Applications
The LOW-ΔP-FLOW series is used in environmental air sampling, leak rate measurements, burner control, and gas consumption measurement in low-pressure systems. It offers advantages in burner control by automatically adapting to changing conditions.

Models and Flow Ranges
Detailed specifications for various models of Mass Flow Meters and Controllers, including dimensions, weight, and flow ranges, are provided.

Conversion Factors
Conversion and viscosity factors are available for selecting appropriate models for gases other than air.

To select the right model for other gases than Air, we have to carry out two calculations: conversion factor The highest flow rate calculated determines the flow capacity. Example: Freon-22, 1 ln/min Conversion factor = 0,49 (see table below) Viscosity factor = 0,34 (see table below) Highest flow rate = 2,94 ln/min so we can select model F-101E or F-101EI MFM resp. F-201EV or F-201EI MFC. viscosity factor > Conversion factors and viscosity factors Name ABC Name ABC Name ABC A = Symbol - B = conversion factor @ 20°C. I atm. - C = viscosity factor @ 20°C. I atm.

An interesting example to control a flow rate is using a LOW-AP-FLOW Mass Flow Meter in combination with a sampling pump. In this configuration the speed of the pump is controlled to obtain the required mass flow rate, determined by the setpoint value. Burner control using Mass Flow Controllers brings many advantages compared to conventional systems, where flow is adjusted through needle valves. When burner orifices get clogged or when gas supply pressure varies, an MFC will automatically adapt to the changed conditions. For the control of relatively large flows with low differential pressure,...
