Product catalog summary
Overview: This document details the specifications and features of Bray's Series 30/31 resilient seated butterfly valves, designed for industrial applications. These valves are available in sizes from 2" to 20" and are compatible with various global flange standards.
Key Features:
  • Unique Seat Design: The tongue-and-groove design isolates flowing media from the valve body, reducing torque and simplifying replacement. The molded O-ring eliminates the need for flange gaskets.
  • Stem Retaining Assembly: Uses a stainless steel "Spirolox®" retaining ring and C-rings to prevent accidental stem removal.
  • Disc and Stem Connection: Features a high-strength through stem design with a double "D" connection, reducing leak paths and increasing Cv values.
  • Corrosion Protection: Standard polyester coating resists chemicals and abrasion, with an optional USDA-approved Nylon 11 coating for superior protection.
Specifications:
  • Body Materials: Cast iron, ductile iron, cast steel, and aluminum.
  • Seat Materials: Buna-N, EPDM, FKM, and White Buna-N, all food-grade.
  • Stem Materials: Coated carbon steel, 416, 304, and 316 stainless steel, and Monel.
  • Disc Materials: Aluminum bronze, coated ductile iron, and 316 stainless steel.
  • Temperature Range: EPDM: -40°F to +250°F, FKM: 0°F to +400°F.
Installation and Maintenance:
  • Installation involves positioning the disc partially open, aligning the body between flanges, and tightening bolts without gaskets.
  • Maintenance is minimized due to durable design, reducing wear and repair needs.
Performance and Compatibility:
  • Valves are tested to 110% of full pressure rating and compatible with ANSI, BS, DIN, AS, and JIS standards.
  • Bi-directional pressure ratings: 175 psi for 2"-12" valves, 150 psi for 14"-20" valves.
  • Velocity limits: 30 ft/sec for fluids, 175 ft/sec for gases.
Specifications and Maintenance: No routine lubrication is required. Components are field replaceable without adjustments. Ensure the system is depressurized before maintenance.
Disassembly Procedure: Remove the handle, gear operator, or actuator, then the 'Spirolox®' ring, stem, thrust washer, and C-ring retainers. Remove the bushing, seal, and disc, then the seat.
Assembly Procedure: Insert the seat into the body, align stem holes, and insert the stem. Apply silicone oil or soap and water, insert the disc, align holes, and secure components.
Distributor Information: Bray® is a registered trademark of BRAY INTERNATIONAL, Inc., with visual references for disc positions.

DISC AND STEM CONNECTION ( A ) Features a high-strength through stemdesign. The close tolerance, double DӔ connection that drives the valve disc is an exclusive feature of the Bray valve. It eliminates stem retention components being exposed to the line media, such as disc screws and taper pins, which com- monly result in leak paths, corrosion, and vibration failures. Disc screws or taper pins, due to wear and corrosion, often require difficult machining for disassem-bly. Disassembly of the Bray stem is just a matter of pulling the stem out of the disc. Without fasteners obstructing the line...
