TimeSpy

Product catalog summary
Overview: The TimeSpy Network Time Analyzer is a precision tool designed to measure and display the difference between input time signals and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). It supports a variety of time signal inputs and offers high accuracy and resolution.
Key Features:
  • Measures time signal differences with a resolution better than 1 nanosecond and an absolute accuracy of up to 50 nanoseconds to UTC.
  • Supports laboratory standard 1PPS & 10MHz inputs as time references.
  • Automatically identifies and analyzes Modulated Carrier Timecodes.
  • Features a full-color touch-screen with a user-friendly Windows-based operating system.
  • Includes a USB port for easy data download and analysis.
  • Portable and robust design suitable for industrial applications.
  • User-selectable alarm thresholds.
Applications: TimeSpy is essential for distributing time-of-day information from a central master clock to sub-master clocks or user systems over large distances. It helps measure and correct time errors caused by network delays or untraceable sources like broadcasts and power lines.
Signal Inputs: The device supports various inputs selectable via the touch screen, including 1PPS, 1PPM, 1PPH, modulated timecodes, ASCII serial time messages, NTP, PTP, and DCF77 timecode.
Ease of Use: The portable, battery-powered unit can synchronize with GPS using an integral or external antenna, and it can also operate on AC mains power.
Specifications:
  • Measurement Reference Source: Internal GPS receiver with case-mounted antenna, offering 30ns accuracy over 24 hours with GPS reception.
  • Internal Time Interval Measurement: 0.2ns resolution with self-calibration.
  • Power: Operates on 90V-264V AC with an internal rechargeable battery providing a nominal 3-hour life and 4-hour recharge time.
  • Mechanical: Portable case dimensions are 350mm x 180mm x 305mm, weighing 9kg.
  • Environmental: Operates in temperatures from 0°C to +40°C and up to 95% RH non-condensing; CE compliant.

Applications . TimeSpy is invaluable where time of day information is distributed from a central master clock to sub-master clocks or user systems over large distances via serial data links or packet networks. Substantial delays can occur due to high levels of network traffic or even due to the long distance between the master clock and the user. Some commercially available software algorithms can reduce these errors but, unless the errors are accurately and independently measured at the point of use, the user cannot be certain of the accuracy of his time source in this type of application. Additionally,...
