DRILLS JOBBER METRIC DELTA POINT NEW PRODUCT METRIC JOBBER DRILLS The Delta Point drill bit is completely unlike traditional chisel point and split point drill bits. Rather than try to modify existing point types or tweak the grind angles, Delta Point tip design required a revolutionary re-think of drill tip function. Delta Point drills have a multi-faceted cutting tip. The overall length of the cutting edge of Delta Point significantly exceeds that of conventional split point drills of comparable size. This means there is more edge doing the cutting and this is one reason the design is superior...

DRILLS JOBBER METRIC BULK METRIC JOBBER DRILLS 118º Split Point (crankshaft point) Split point is self centering and reduces the need for end thrust. Friction at workpiece is reduced. 118º point angles are ideal for use in materials such as mild steel and cast iron. The 118º point creates easily controlled chips which are wide and thin. 135º Split Point (crankshaft point) Split point is self centering and the short distance from the drill axis to the outer corners results in faster penetration, reducing the need for end thrust. The 135º point should be used to cut harder steel materials especially...

DRILLS JOBBER METRIC BULK JOBB BLACK HSS 118º SPLIT POINT* 30º HELIX BULK DRILL BIT SURFACE TREATMENT BRIGHT FINISH A bright finish tool has no surface treatment and is supplied in the as-ground condition. These tools are suitable for general purpose use, particularly for non-ferrous applications. BLACK FINISH (also called blue finish) A black finish is achieved by steam tempering, a thermal process resulting in a porous tool coating. This surface helps to keep lubricant on the tool, particularly important on the cutting edges, thus reducing friction and cold welding. The result is increased tool...

DRILLS JOBBER METRIC BULK DRILL BIT MATERIALS HIGH SPEED STEEL (HSS) Bordo HSS jobber drills are ground from premium quality M2 high speed steel. HSS can withstand higher operating temperatures than carbon steel without losing its temper (hardness). This property allows HSS to cut faster than high carbon steel, hence the name high speed steel. M2 HSS is an alloyed steel in the tungstenmolybdenum series which typically contains 4% Chromium, 5% Molybdenum, 6% Tungsten, 2% Vanadium and 1% Carbon (approx. by % wt). The material is also subject to high temperature heat treatment to complete the process....

DRILLS JOBBER GAUGE BULK Standard Point (chisel point) Standard point is suitable for general purpose drilling. USAGE GAUGE DRILLS Gauge size drill calculations are generally made utilising a referance book or table. For example, to drill a hole which is 10 thou (thousandth of an inch = .001) bigger than a 1/8” bolt, the user must first work out that 1/8” is 125 thou, so the required hole size is 135 thou. Using a reference table establishes that you would need a number 29. Number drill bit gauge sizes are analogous to, but different from, American wire gauge. Number gauge is most commonly used...
